Whole-brain CT perfusion on admission predicts delayed cerebral ischemia following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
The aim of this study is to prospectively evaluate whole-brain CT perfusion (CTP) on admission to predict delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). ⋯ Whole-brain CTP within 24 h of admission can qualitatively and quantitatively detect abnormal cerebral perfusion. It is possible to predict the risk of developing DCI after aSAH when the TMax value is larger than 2.240 s.

Iodinated contrast media (ICM) induced acute kidney injury (AKI) accounts for 11% of cases of AKI and is its third most common cause in hospitalized patients. However, the pathophysiological mechanisms are not yet completely understood. The nephrotoxicity of ICM is partly the consequence of a direct cytotoxic effect on renal tubular epithelial and endothelial cells. ⋯ Preventive measures have reduced the incidence of AKI over the last ten years. After an overview of the pathophysiology of the renal toxicity of ICM, we review risk factors and scores, diagnosis, and means of prevention in the light of the 2018 European Society of Urogenital Radiology and the 2018 American College of Radiology guidelines and recent studies on the subject. In addition, a side-by-side comparison of the updated and less conservative guidelines from the Radiology community and the more cautionary attitude from the Nephrology community are also presented.

To noninvasively differentiate meningioma grades by deep learning radiomics (DLR) model based on routine post-contrast MRI. ⋯ Using routine MRI data, we developed a DLR model with good performance for noninvasively individualized prediction of meningioma grades, which achieved a quantization capability superior over the hand-crafted features. This model has potential to guide and facilitate the clinical decision-making of whether to observe or to treat patients by providing prognostic information.

It is still unclear whether lung ultrasound (LUS) can be used to evaluate the severity of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). ⋯ The LUS score and consolidation areas can discriminate NRDS from non-NRDS and the different grades of NRDS, and predict the application of mechanical ventilation.

Safety and outcome of combined endovascular and surgical management of low grade cerebral arteriovenous malformations in children compared to surgery alone.
To evaluate the outcomes of combined preoperative embolization and microsurgical resection in comparison with microsurgical resection alone as the current standard of care for low-grade cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVM) in the pediatric population. ⋯ Our study suggests equivalent safety and favorable clinical outcomes related to combined endovascular embolization and microsurgical resection of low grade pediatric cerebral AVMs in comparison to microsurgical resection alone. On long term clinical follow-up, the vast majority of patients achieved an independent and favorable functional status irrespective of pre-operative embolization.
