Exploring the home healthcare workforce in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias: Utilization and cost outcomes in US community dwelling older adults.
This study assessed home health care use associated with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias (ADRD) in US community dwelling older adults, including workforce, intensity, and cost outcomes. ⋯ The study provides insight into the home care workforce. Of the professional workforce NPs were most often used and home care aides dominated the non-professional workforce. As expected, ADRD increased the likelihood and intensity of home health care utilization and associated direct home care costs significantly.

Review Meta AnalysisConsistent patterns in the inconsistent associations of Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), C-Reactive Protein (C-RP) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels with delirium in surgical populations. A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Biomarkers for delirium could increase diagnostic accuracy and may help to identify pathological pathways. Until now study findings concerning cytokine levels have been inconsistent. ⋯ Despite the contradictory results concerning the association of IGF-1, C-RP and IL-6 with postoperative delirium, the present meta-analysis shows that there are certain patterns. IL-6 seems a consistent predictor for delirium in surgical samples.

Assessment of the association between dysphagia and sarcopenia among elderly patients with cirrhosis: Usefulness of the finger-ring test.
Sarcopenic dysphagia has become an urgent matter of debate in our aging society. However, little is known about the relationship between sarcopenia and dysphagia in patients with liver cirrhosis. Our aim was to assess sarcopenia and dysphagia among elderly patients with cirrhosis using two easy-to-use screening tests, i.e., the eating assessment tool-10 and the finger-ring test. ⋯ Sarcopenia, rather than the hepatic reserve function, is associated with dysphagia among elderly patients with cirrhosis. The finger-ring test might be useful in screening for dysphagia.

Multicenter StudyHealth-related quality of life and ego integrity among the oldest old - Evidence from the multicenter AgeCoDe-AgeQualiDe study.
To investigate the association between health-related quality of life and ego integrity among the oldest old. ⋯ Findings stress the importance of health-related quality of life for ego integrity among the oldest old. Future studies are required to clarify the underlying mechanisms.

Calf circumference value for sarcopenia screening among older adults with stroke.
The Asia Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 (AWGS) recommended using the calf circumference (CC) cut-off values to facilitate the case-finding of sarcopenia. However, the validity of the proposed cut-offs has not been examined in older patients with stroke. This study investigated the validity of the AWGS-recommended CC cut-off values for identifying sarcopenia among older patients with stroke. ⋯ The AWGS-recommended CC cut-off values are valid. The predictive characteristics of sarcopenia differed among men and women with stroke.
