Randomized Controlled TrialImpact of triglyceride levels beyond low-density lipoprotein cholesterol after acute coronary syndrome in the PROVE IT-TIMI 22 trial.
The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of on-treatment triglycerides (TG) on coronary heart disease (CHD) risk after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). ⋯ On-treatment TG <150 mg/dl was independently associated with a lower risk of recurrent CHD events, lending support to the concept that achieving low TG may be an additional consideration beyond low LDL-C in patients after ACS.

Interventricular mechanical asynchrony in pulmonary arterial hypertension: left-to-right delay in peak shortening is related to right ventricular overload and left ventricular underfilling.
The purpose of this study was to explore in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) whether the cause of interventricular asynchrony lies in onset of shortening or duration of shortening. ⋯ In PAH, the L-R delay in myocardial peak shortening is caused by lengthening of the duration of RV shortening. This L-R delay is related to LVSB, decreased LV filling, and decreased stroke volume.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAssociation of impaired thrombolysis in myocardial infarction myocardial perfusion grade with ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation following fibrinolytic therapy for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
The goal of this analysis was to evaluate the association of impaired Thrombolysis In Myocardial Infarction myocardial perfusion grade (TMPG) with sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF). ⋯ Despite restoration of normal epicardial flow or a left ventricular ejection fraction >or=30%, impaired myocardial perfusion on angiography 3.5 days after fibrinolytic administration for STEMI is associated with an increased incidence of VT/VF.
