Effect of Phacoemulsification on Intraocular Pressure in Healthy Subjects and Glaucoma Patients.
We investigated how cataract surgery might influence long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) change in both healthy subjects and glaucoma patients. ⋯ Phacoemulsification resulted in IOP reduction, which effect regressed in healthy subjects and glaucoma patients over the course of long-term follow up. Therefore, long-term monitoring of IOP change is needed. In cases of higher preoperative IOP and young patients, phacoemulsification alone is a reliable option for IOP control.

Incidence of Prostate Cancer according to Metabolic Health Status: a Nationwide Cohort Study.
We assessed the association between metabolic health status and incidence of prostate cancer using the National Health Check-ups (NHC) database of Korea. ⋯ This population-based nationwide study revealed an association between metabolic health status and the incidence of prostate cancer, and the risk increased according to the number of components of the metabolic syndrome.

Impact of Day 14 Peripheral Blood Chimerism after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Bone Transplantation on the Treatment Outcome of Non-Malignant Disease.
The impact of early peripheral blood chimerism on the outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is unclear. We aimed to determine whether day 14 peripheral blood chimerism after allo-HSCT predicts outcomes in patients with non-malignant diseases. ⋯ Although CC is not always necessary after allo-HSCT for non-malignant diseases, our data suggest that day 14 peripheral blood chimerism may predict outcomes in patients with non-malignant diseases who underwent BM/PBSC transplants.

Metabolic Syndrome Severity Score in Korean Adults: Analysis of the 2010-2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Continuous metabolic syndrome (MS) severity scores that can track metabolic risk in individuals over time have been developed for Western populations. The present study aimed to develop gender- and age-specific equations for MS severity scores in Korean adults. ⋯ The new MS severity score equations for Korean adults proposed in this study provide a clinically-accessible continuous measure of MS for potential use in identifying adults at higher risk for MS-related diseases and following changes within individuals over time.

Alendronate-Anionic Clay Nanohybrid for Enhanced Osteogenic Proliferation and Differentiation.
Alendronate (AL), a drug for inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone-resorption, was intercalated into an inorganic drug delivery nanovehicle, layered double hydroxide (LDH), to form a new nanohybrid, AL-LDH, with 1:1 heterostructure along the crystallographic C-axis. Based on the intercalation reaction strategy, the present AL-LDH drug delivery system (DDS) was realized with an enhanced drug efficacy of AL, which was confirmed by the improved proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of osteoblast-like cells (MG63). ⋯ The present AL-LDH could be considered as a promising DDS for improving efficacy of AL.
