Assessment of Healthcare Worker Protocol Deviations and Self-Contamination During Personal Protective Equipment Donning and Doffing.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate healthcare worker (HCW) risk of self-contamination when donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) using fluorescence and MS2 bacteriophage. DESIGN Prospective pilot study. SETTING Tertiary-care hospital. ⋯ Self-contamination was common. PPE donning/doffing are complex and deserve additional study. Comparative StudyA Role for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Clinical Sepsis Pathways: a Prospective Interventional Study.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of early infectious diseases (ID) antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) intervention on inpatient sepsis antibiotic management. DESIGN Interventional, nonrandomized, controlled study. SETTING Tertiary-care referral hospital, Sydney, Australia. ⋯ Early ID AMS improved antibiotic management of non-ICU inpatients with suspected sepsis, predominantly by de-escalation.
