This cross-sectional survey aimed to assess the knowledge of dentists and dental assistants practicing in Saudi Arabia regarding diabetes mellitus (DM) and periodontal diseases. ⋯ Both dentists and dental assistants in Saudi Arabia revealed a satisfactory knowledge level regarding the periodontal disease-diabetes interactions with no significant difference between the two groups. Further studies are recommended to assess the attitude of dental care providers while dealing with diabetic patients.

An estimated 1.8 million individuals worldwide became newly infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in 2016, which amounts to 5,000 new infections per day. This includes 160,000 children. The HIV epidemic not only affects the health of individuals but also impacts households, communities, and the development and economic growth of nations [
1 ]. The prevention and control of HIV infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) are recognized as a national priority in Kuwait. This study assesses the knowledge, awareness, and attitudes about HIV/AIDS among senior high school students in Kuwait. ⋯ This study provides a benchmark for further elaborate studies in the community to develop appropriate health education and awareness programs. -
Aortic arch calcification (AAC) is a surrogate marker for arterial stiffness and hypertension-related vascular damage. Renal resistive index (RRI), a renal Doppler ultrasonography parameter, is used to assess renal hemodynamics. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between RRI and AAC in patients with hypertension. ⋯ A strong and independent relationship was found between AAC on chest X-ray and RRI in patients with hypertension.

Over-the-Counter Herbal Weight Loss Supplements in Egypt: Label Claim, Microbiological and Pharmaceutical Quality, and Safety Assessments.
Nutraceuticals are advertised and sold with the label claim of being natural and safe herbal products. Due to the absence of clear regulations and guidelines for safety assessments of these products, nutraceuticals are commonly adulterated in order to increase sales. The objective of the current study was to design a comprehensive evaluation system to assess the safety, efficacy, authenticity according to label claim, and pharmaceutical quality of herbal slimming products in between 2015 and 2017. ⋯ These products threaten the health of consumers. There is a need to raise awareness of the lethal consequences of illegal nutraceuticals.

In this study, we aimed to determine the predictive value of the CHA2DS2VASc score for acute stent thrombosis in patients with an ST elevation myocardial infarction treated with a primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). ⋯ The CHA2DS2VASc score may be a significant independent predictor of acute stent thrombosis in patients with STEMI treated with a pPCI. Therefore, the CHA2DS2VASc score may be used to assess the risk of acute stent thrombosis in patients with STEMI following a pPCI.
