Investigation of explainable deep learning methods for graph neural networks to predict HIV infections with social network information and performing domain adaptation to evaluate model transferability across different datasets. ⋯ GAT models can be used to address the data sparsity issue in HIV study populations. They are powerful tools for predicting individual risk of HIV that can be further explored for better understanding of HIV transmission.

We hypothesized that patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) face a dilemma between motivation to live and difficulty in living, and brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) can reduce this dilemma. This study aimed to investigate the present situation of patients with ALS and their expectations from BMIs. ⋯ These results clearly revealed a serious dilemma among patients with ALS between motivation to live and their anxiety about TLS and caregiver burden. Patients expected BMI to reduce this dilemma. Thus, the development of better BMIs may meet these expectations.

The prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype and cervical neoplasia in women older than 64 years, who are outside the age demographic of cervical cancer screening in China, has been under-researched. This study conducts a retrospective analysis of women from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou, with the aim to offer valuable insights for cervical cancer prevention and control in elderly women. The study incorporated 876 women, all aged 64 and above. ⋯ In conclusion, the burden of HPV infection is significant among women over 64 years in Guangzhou. Re-evaluation of cervical cancer screening strategies for women after the age of 64 is imperative. Moreover, the HPV 16/18/52/58 genotype model could serve as an alternative triage approach to identify histological CIN2+ among elderly women with HPV-positive/NILM status.

This study assessed the knowledge, behavior, and needs of competitive adolescent (16-18 years) distance runners and distance running coaches enrolled as part of England Athletics' Youth Talent Programme in relation to the prevention of running-related injury (RRI). Two online surveys were developed and distributed to the distance runners (survey one) and coaches (survey two). Both surveys included sections related to: (1) current knowledge; (2) current behavior; (3) need and support for RRI prevention measures; and (4) possible content and form of RRI prevention measures. ⋯ Interestingly, distance runners identified a modifiable cause of RRI (i.e., too much training) as the most common cause of RRI, while coaches selected a non-modifiable cause of RRI (i.e., growth and maturation). These key findings were supplemented by competitive adolescent runners and distance running coaches detailing their delivery preferences for such RRI prevention measures. Results from this study will help inform subsequent steps of the larger co-creation process, with an emphasis on developing multifaceted and context-specific RRI prevention measures that are deemed to be feasible and acceptable for real-world implementation.

Prediabetes is prevalent in Saudi Arabia and globally. It is associated with adverse health outcomes and complications. Consequently, this study aimed to determine the risk factors associated with developing prediabetes in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ The study showed that several risk factors are associated with the development of prediabetes in the Saudi population. Addressing these factors can help prevent prediabetes, and consequently, its burden and further progression to diabetes.
