Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a significant global medical challenge. Formononetin, an isoflavone derived from Astragalus membranaceus, has been shown to have various regulatory effects on HCC. However, the exact molecular mechanism by which formononetin acts against HCC is still unclear. ⋯ Formononetin demonstrates dose-dependent regulatory effects on multiple targets, biological processes and signalling pathways in HCC. The compound can mitigate HCC by enhancing PI3K/AKT-mediated apoptosis of tumour cells.

This study investigated the molecular mechanism of quercetin in the treatment of sepsis using network pharmacological prediction and experimentation. ⋯ Alox5 may be involved in the occurrence and development of multi-organ functional disturbances in sepsis and is a reliable target of quercetin against sepsis.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine and metabolic disorders in women of reproductive age. It is frequently comorbid with obesity and negative emotions. Currently, there are few reports on the relationship between obesity and negative emotions in patients with PCOS. Here we performed both basic and clinical studies to study the relationship between obesity and negative emotions in PCOS. ⋯ These results reveal a potential relationship between obesity and negative emotions in PCOS and prompt further investigation. The interactions between various symptoms of PCOS may be targeted to improve the overall well-being of patients.

Acid α-glucosidase (GAA) is a lysosomal enzyme that hydrolyzes glycogen to glucose. Deficiency of GAA causes Pompe disease (PD), also known as glycogen storage disease type II. The resulting glycogen accumulation causes a spectrum of disease severity ranging from infantile-onset PD to adult-onset PD. Additional non-invasive biomarkers of disease severity are needed to monitor response to therapeutic interventions. ⋯ Exosomes derived from urine or serum are a potential source of biomarkers for Pompe Disease. Further study of the differences in the miRNA transcriptome and proteome content of exosomes may yield new insights into disease mechanisms.

To explore the mechanism underlying the therapeutic effect of Bufei Yishen Formula III combined with exercise rehabilitation (ECC-BYF III + ER) on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and further identify hub genes. ⋯ Thirty-four COPD-related pathways and seven hub genes that may be regulated by ECC-BYF III + ER were identified and well verified. The findings of this study may provide insights into the treatment and mechanism underlying COPD.
