Clinical Trial
Smartband-based smoking detection and real-time brief mindfulness intervention: findings from a feasibility clinical trial.
Smartbands can be used to detect cigarette smoking and deliver real time smoking interventions. Brief mindfulness interventions have been found to reduce smoking. ⋯ Findings demonstrate the feasibility of using a smartband to track smoking and deliver quit smoking interventions contingent on smoking.

Subjective cognitive complaint (SCC) is associated with future cognitive decline and may be a marker for clinical intervention in the progression to dementia. Among the viable predictors of SCC, psychological factors are clinically relevant, non-invasive early indicators of older adults at elevated risk. This aim of this study is to determine whether psychological symptoms: dysphoria and apathy precede incident SCC in the dementia pathway. ⋯ In this longitudinal analysis of community dwelling older adults, apathy was associated with an increased risk of SCC, when adjusting for cognition but not dysphoria. Finally, this study highlights apathy as an early risk factor, which may precede SCC in the progression to dementia and consequently, may identify a high risk group for clinical screening and intervention.

Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) has been suggested to occur in patients with Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB); however, a clear association has never been documented. The present study prospectively investigated the development of SNHL in patients admitted for treatment of LNB using distortion-product-oto-acoustic emissions (DPOAE) as a measure of cochlear function. ⋯ LNB can lead to cochlear outer-hair cell dysfunction, resulting in temporary and long-term SNHL.

Clinical validity of genome sequencing (GS) (>30×) has been preliminarily verified in the post-natal setting. This study is to investigate the potential utility of trio-GS as a prenatal test for diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) anomalies. ⋯ GS demonstrates its feasibility in providing genetic diagnosis for foetal CNS abnormalities and shows the potential to expand the application to foetuses with other ultrasound anomalies in prenatal diagnosis.

Comparative Study
Comparison of two platinum-containing chemotherapy regimens in the treatment of advanced cervical cancer with concurrent chemoradiotherapy.
The present study aims to compare the efficacy and side effects of a platinum-containing combination regimen and platinum single-drug concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in patients with advanced cervical cancer (CC) and to understand the prognostic factors in patients with CC. ⋯ A higher patient age, having an AC and stage of IIIa and a high SCC-Ag value before treatment resulted in a relatively low survival rate.
