To date, no protocol of anesthesia for pediatric ophthalmic surgery is unanimously recognized. The primary anesthetic risks are associated with strabismus surgery, including oculocardiac reflex, postoperative nausea and vomiting, and postoperative pain. ⋯ Morbidity associated with ophthalmic pediatric surgery is low and predominantly associated with strabismus surgery. The benefit-risk ratio and cost-effectiveness of oculocardiac reflex prevention should be questioned. Our postoperative nausea and vomiting rate is low, thanks to the use of a well-managed multimodal strategy. Early postoperative pain is usually well-treated but could probably be more effectively prevented.

To analyze the visual and refractive outcome of the bioptics procedure combining multifocal intraocular lens implantation and excimer laser surgery in young patients with high hyperopic eyes not suitable for a single surgical procedure. ⋯ A bioptics approach involving multifocal intraocular lens followed 6 weeks later by a laser in situ keratomileusis procedure for the correction of very high hyperopia enabled the resolution of the residual refractive error in young very high hyperopic patients.

To evaluate the response to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy for choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal osteoma using optical coherence tomography angiography. ⋯ Optical coherence tomography angiography seems to be a useful tool in visualizing and distinguishing vascular networks of choroidal osteoma and of choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal osteoma better than fluorescein angiography.

Comparison of ranibizumab and subthreshold micropulse laser in treatment of macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion.
To compare the effects of intravitreal ranibizumab injection and yellow (577 nm) subthreshold micropulse laser treatment in patients with macular edema following non-ischemic branch retinal vein occlusion. ⋯ Our study results showed that intravitreal ranibizumab or yellow subthreshold micropulse laser treatment for macular edema due to branch retinal vein occlusion was not found to be superior to each other for reducing macular thickness and increasing visual acuity for 1-year period. Based on these results, subthreshold micropulse laser may be a useful alternative approach in the treatment of macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion.

Deep Capillary Macular Perfusion Indices Obtained with OCT Angiography Correlate with Degree of Nonproliferative Diabetic Retinopathy.
To evaluate the integrity of macular and temporomacular vasculature in nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) with noninvasive optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and correlate perfusion indices with degree of NPDR. ⋯ Optical coherence tomography angiography clearly delineated the retinal microcirculation and allowed quantification of vascular perfusion of each layer. As diabetic retinopathy progressed, a decrease in perfusion index is more pronounced in the deep retinal plexus and precedes changes in superficial plexus.
