Evaluation of medial patellofemoral ligament tears after acute lateral patellar dislocation: comparison of high-frequency ultrasound and MR.
The purpose of this study was to compare the diagnostic performance of high-frequency ultrasound with MR in the evaluation of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) lesions after acute lateral patellar dislocation (LPD). ⋯ • High-frequency ultrasound and MR were able to detect MPFL lesions after acute lateral patellar dislocation. • High-frequency ultrasound and MR showed similarly high accuracy in diagnosing MPFL lesions. • Interobserver agreement was very good for high-frequency ultrasound and good for MR.

Pulmonary function and CT biomarkers as risk factors for cardiovascular events in male lung cancer screening participants: the NELSON study.
The objective of this study was to investigate the association of spirometry and pulmonary CT biomarkers with cardiovascular events. ⋯ • Pulmonary CT biomarkers and spirometry are associated with cardiovascular events • These pulmonary measurements do not contain clinically relevant independent prognostic information • Only coronary calcium score improved cardiovascular risk prediction above age and smoking.

To evaluate the prevalence and clinical significance of focal parotid lesions identified by (18)F- FDG PET/CT in patients with nonparotid head and neck malignancies. ⋯ • The prevalence of parotid incidentaloma on PET in head and neck malignancy was 2.1% • The malignancy rate of incidental focal parotid FDG uptake was 33.3% • SUV max could not reliably differentiate malignant from benign incidental parotid lesions.

Optimal contrast within the pulmonary artery is achieved by the maximum amount of contrast-enhanced blood flowing through the superior vena cava (SVC), while minimum amounts of non-contrasted blood should originate from the inferior vena cava (IVC). This study aims to clarify whether "suction against resistance" might optimise this ratio. ⋯ Suction provokes reduction in blood flow in the inferior vena cava. Ratio between the inferior and superior vena cava blood flow diminished during suction. Manometer used during breathing standardises MR phase-contrast blood flow measurements.

Comparison of 3D double inversion recovery and 2D STIR FLAIR MR sequences for the imaging of optic neuritis: pilot study.
We compared the three-dimensional (3D) double inversion recovery (DIR) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence with the coronal two-dimensional (2D) short tau inversion recovery (STIR) fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) for the detection of optic nerve signal abnormality in patients with optic neuritis (ON). ⋯ 3D DIR is increasingly used in neuroradiology. Compared with STIR FLAIR, 3D DIR improves detection of optic neuritis. Multiplanar analysis had the best diagnostic performance for optic nerve signal abnormalities. Sensitivity was 95% and specificity 94%. Findings support the use of 3D DIR instead of 2D sequences.
