Comparative StudyValidation of Clinical Scoring Systems ART and ABCR after Transarterial Chemoembolization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
To perform an external validation of the Assessment for Retreatment with Transarterial Chemoembolization (ART) and α-fetoprotein (AFP), Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC), Child-Pugh, and response (ABCR) scores and to compare them in terms of prognostic power. ⋯ Both scores were of limited predictive value, and neither was sufficient to support clear-cut clinical decisions. Further effort is necessary to determine criteria for making valid clinical predictions.

ReviewThe Utility of Viscoelastic Testing in Patients Undergoing IR Procedures.
Whole-blood viscoelastic testing can identify patient-specific coagulation disturbances, allowing for targeted repletion of necessary coagulation factors and differentiation between coagulopathy and surgical bleeding that requires intervention. Viscoelastic testing complements standard coagulation tests and has been shown to decrease transfusion requirements and improve survival in bleeding patients. Viscoelastic testing also can be used to predict bleeding and improve the care of patients undergoing interventional radiology (IR) procedures.

Comparative StudyClinical Evaluation of Protective Garments with Respect to Garment Characteristics and Manufacturer Label Information.
To test operator exposures inside radiation protection garments in a simulated clinical setup, examining trends related to multiple characteristics. ⋯ Operator exposure in a realistic interventional setup is highly variable for similarly labeled protective garments, highlighting the necessity of internal validation when considering nonlead and lightweight models.

Comparative StudyUnderrepresentation of Women and Minorities in the United States IR Academic Physician Workforce.
To assess the United States interventional radiology (IR) academic physician workforce diversity and comparative specialties. ⋯ Women, blacks, and Hispanics are underrepresented in the IR academic physician workforce relative to the US population. Given prevalent health care disparities and an increasingly diverse society, research and training efforts should address IR physician workforce diversity.
