To examine the needs, barriers and challenges experienced by family carers of people with dementia concerning the management of their care recipients' functional disabilities, and their experiences and opinions of using mobile health (mHealth) applications in health information seeking. ⋯ This study provides important information on family carers' needs, and the barriers and challenges related to functional care for people with dementia. Findings from this study can assist nurses and other health professionals in the planning of educational and supportive programs for family carers. Furthermore, the use of mHealth applications could positively contribute to the delivery of these programs.

Pressure injury risk assessment in intensive care units: Comparison of the reliability and predictive validity of the Braden and Jackson/Cubbin scales.
To compare the reliability and predictive validity of the Braden and Jackson/Cubbin PI risk assessment scales in intensive care unit patients. ⋯ Both scales are reliable and valid scales for pressure injury risk assessment. Jackson/Cubbin scale's discriminative ability (between the patients at pressure injury risk and not at pressure injury risk) was better.

Effects of a home-based nursing intervention programme among adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
To investigate the effects of a home-based nursing intervention programme established based on the Health Promotion Model on the health outcomes of adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ The home-based nursing intervention programme can be applied by nurses to ease the transition of adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus and their parents to healthy daily life practices and ensure their glycemic controls after being discharged.

To examine and compare the differences in symptoms and symptom clusters between postmenopausal women with early-stage breast cancer who did and did not receive chemotherapy prior to aromatase inhibitor (AI) therapy. ⋯ Nurses should assess and be aware of symptoms and symptom clusters existed prior to AI therapy and manage them in advance.

In Canada, nurse practitioners (NP) were legally authorised to prescribe controlled drugs and substances (CDS) in 2012. The objective of this study was to understand current NP-CDS prescribing in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada. This study is a component of a larger three-phase survey of NP practice patterns in these same provinces. ⋯ Understanding factors that influence NP-CDS prescribing has relevance to the current drug-related prescription fatalities crisis in all countries.
