Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a neurologic emergency and often a neurologic catastrophe. Nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage is characterized by the extravasation of blood into the spaces covering the central nervous system. The leading cause of SAH is rupture of an intracranial aneurysm, which accounts for about 80-85% of cases. ⋯ Intensive care plays a more important role in the management of SAH than in any other neurological disorder. Excellence in neurologic diagnosis, in operative neurosurgery or neuroradiologic procedures must be accompanied by excellence in Intensive Care. This review emphasizes treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, surgical and endovascular therapeutic options and the current state of treatment of major complications such as rebleeding, cerebral vasospasm and acute hydrocephalus.

[Patient data management systems or unit data management systems. Two clinical management perspectives in Intensive Medicine].
The need of availability of information able to describe the activity performed in ICU has two different sides. The first related with the monitoring of the patient himself, his clinical situation changes and the checking of attitudes and reactions of the clinical team related to these changes. ⋯ Industry tried to develop potent instruments (informatized) able to
information from patient monitoring systems in order to cope with the first quoted need (the so called patient data management systems [PDMS]), but has not yet be able to cross the line between the individual patient and the global unit activity. Authors emphasize the need of having the unit data management systems (UDMS), a not solved problem, as a complement on real time on line information obtained from patients. -
To evaluate the attitudes and perceptions of the doctors of a hospital regarding critical care and the speciality of Intensive Medicine. ⋯ We detect the ignorance of other professionals about the function of a Service of Intensive Medicine and the model of ICU of our country. Also we find high rates of dissatisfaction among the professionals who was refused some admission in the unit, because of we believe that clinical guides about the criteria of admission must be elaborated and to announce them among the doctors of the hospital. The professionals perceive that we suffer a high level of stress.

Comparative Study
[Gender bias in women with myocardial infarction: ten years after].
Previous studies show that the women with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) receive less fibrinolitic treatment than the men. The objective of this study is to analyze if it exists any difference in fibrinolysis related to gender and to compare the results with those obtained 10 years ago. ⋯ The women with AMI continue receiving less fibrynolisis, although exists an increase in the number of treatments superior to register in the men.
