This review examines psychometric performance of three widely used generic preference-based measures, that is, EuroQol 5 dimensions (EQ-5D), Health Utility Index 3 (HUI3) and Short-form 6 dimensions (SF-6D) in patients with hearing impairments. ⋯ Overall, the validity and responsiveness of the HUI3 in hearing impairment was good. The responsiveness of EQ-5D was relatively poor and weak validity was suggested by limited evidence. The evidence on SF-6D was too limited to make any judgment. More head-to-head comparisons of these and other preference measures of health are required.

This clinimetric analysis was conducted to evaluate the reliability, validity, and responsiveness to changeover time of the QLQ-CIPN20 when used to quantify patient-reported chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). ⋯ Results provide support for QLQ-CIPN20 sensory and motor scale reliability and validity. The more parsimonious and clinically relevant 16-item version merits further consideration.

To help researchers in multiple sclerosis (MS) take advantage of the measurement properties of the PROMIS Pain Interference instrument while maintaining continuity with previous research, we developed and tested a crosswalk table to transform Brief Pain Inventory pain interference scale (BPI-PI) scores to PROMIS-PI short form (PROMIS-PI SF) scores. ⋯ Crosswalked pain interference scores adequately approximated observed PROMIS-PI SF scores in both the calibration and validation samples. MS researchers and clinicians interested in adopting the PROMIS instruments can use this table to transform BPI-PI scores to enable comparisons with other studies and to maintain continuity with previous research.

This study aimed to ascertain the psychometric properties of EuroQol Five Dimensional Questionnaire (EQ-5D-3L) in primary caregivers of children with autism. The convergent validity, discriminant validity, known-groups validity, internal consistency reliability, and floor and ceiling effects of EQ-5D-3L were analyzed. ⋯ The EQ-5D-3L is a psychometrically sound tool to elicit health state preferences among caregivers of children with autism.

The aim of this study was to validate the Chinese version of the Summated Xerostomia Inventory (SXI). ⋯ This study provided preliminary evidence concerning validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the SXI. The results provide initial evidence that the SXI may be a useful tool for the mainland Chinese xerostomia patients for both clinical and epidemiologic researches.
