Distal femur and proximal tibia replacement with megaprosthesis in revision knee arthroplasty: a limb-saving procedure.
The aim of the present study was to assess whether using megaprostheses in revision knee arthroplasty procedures allows limb salvage with an acceptable outcome and complication rate, in comparison with other limb-saving procedures. ⋯ Megaprosthesis implantation in revision knee arthroplasty is an exceptional indication. Despite the high complication rate, the patients can be spared amputation in most cases, and rapid mobilization with full weight-bearing is possible.

Radiographic parameters associated with lateral patella degeneration in young patients.
Localized articular cartilage degeneration in the patellofemoral joint is a common but yet understudied condition in younger patients. The purpose of this paper was to determine whether there are significant differences in radiographic alignment between those with and without isolated lateral patellofemoral degeneration. ⋯ III.

ReviewLocal anaesthetics and chondrotoxicty: What is the evidence?
Recent reports have suggested that local anaesthetic agents have a toxic effect on articular chondrocytes. This is despite the widespread intra-articular use of local anaesthetic agents following arthroscopic procedures for a number of years. ⋯ Numerous reports suggest a toxic effect of local anaesthetic agents on articular chondrocytes, however, further work is warranted to establish the precise mechanism of toxicity and whether or not single bolus administration results in long-term deleterious outcomes. Determining the ideal in vitro model will help in extrapolating laboratory data to the operating theatre.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntra-articular corticosteroid injection in diabetic patients with adhesive capsulitis: a randomized controlled trial.
An intra-articular corticosteroid injection is considered an effective treatment for idiopathic adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder. This study examined the efficacy of corticosteroid injections for the treatment for adhesive capsulitis in patients with diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Randomized clinical trial, therapeutic study, Level II.
