Background: Erythema multiforme (EM) is an acute cutaneous eruption often associated with infections and more rarely with drugs. This review aimed to evaluate the association between erythema multiforme and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods: A systematic search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Scimago Scopus, and ISI/Web of Science was performed. ⋯ The three groups of patients seem to have different clinical characteristics and courses. Conclusions: From these data, it is possible to preliminarily propose that EM or EM-like eruptions linked to COVID-19 might be divided into three types: the virus-related juvenile type (affecting patients <30-year-old), the virus-related older type (affecting patients >55 years), and the drug-induced type. The occurrence of a skin rash does not seem to be related to the severity and clinical course of COVID-19.

Review Case Reports
Sclerosing Extramedullary Hematopoietic Tumor (SEHT) Mimicking a Malignant Bile Duct Tumor-Case Report and Literature Review.
Introduction: Sclerosing Extramedullary Hematopoietic Tumor (SEHT) is a very rare lesion associated with chronic myeloproliferative disorders (CMPD). SEHT can mimic morphologically, both macroscopically and microscopically, a wide variety of tumors/lesions. Case presentation: We present the case of a female patient diagnosed with gallstones for which surgery was decided. ⋯ A frozen section examination raised the suspicion of a mesenchymal tumor or an inflammatory pseudotumor. The histological evaluation of the permanent sections, supplemented with an immunohistochemical investigation (IHC), was the one that established the diagnosis of SEHT, based on the presence of areas of sclerosis, atypical CD31+ megakaryocytes, myeloid and erythroid elements. Conclusions: The authors present the difficulties of a morphological diagnosis on the frozen section and on permanent sections in the absence of relevant clinical information and make a review of the literature data dedicated to the subject.

Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of microwave ablation (MWA) in combination with open surgery nail positioning for the treatment of fractures or impending fractures of long bone metastases. Material and Methods: Eleven patients (four men, seven women) with painful bone metastases of the humerus, femur or tibia with non-displaced fractures (one case) or impending fractures (10 cases) underwent open MWA in combination with osteosynthesis by locked nail positioning. Pain intensity was measured using a VAS score before and after treatment. ⋯ Two patients died due to tumor disease progression. Conclusion: Results of this preliminary study suggest that combined MWA and surgical osteosynthesis with locked nails is a safe and effective treatment for pathological fractures or malignant impending fractures of long bone metastases of the humerus, femur and tibia. Further analyses with larger cohorts are warranted to confirm these findings.

Background and Objectives: Patients with stroke have a forward neck posture due to neurological damage and often have impaired pulmonary function. This study investigated the effect of diaphragmatic breathing with cervical mobilization to improve pulmonary function cervical alignments. Materials and Methods: This study used a one-group pre-test-post-test design including 20 patients with stroke. ⋯ Results: After diaphragm breathing with cervical joint mobilization, subjects had significantly increased FEV1, FVC, PEF and CVA. Conclusion: Diaphragm breathing with cervical joint mobilization are possible interventions to increase pulmonary function and improve the craniovertebral angle in patients with stroke. However, a complete conclusion can be reached only after a follow-up study has been conducted with a comparison of more subjects and controls.

Background and objectives: Monoallelic (heterozygous) or biallelic (homozygous or compound heterozygous) TACI mutations have been reported as the most common genetic defects in patients with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), which is the most common clinically significant primary immunodeficiency in humans. The aim of our study was to evaluate the prevalence and any correlations of TACI defects in Greek patients with primary antibody deficiencies. Materials and Methods: 117 patients (male/female: 53/64) with CVID (110) and a combined IgA and IgG subclass deficiency (7) with a CVID-like clinical phenotype were enrolled in the study. ⋯ The most frequently detected mutation was C104R (58.8%), followed by I87N (23.5%) and A181E (11.8%), while R20C, C62Y, P151L, K188M and E236X mutations were present in only one patient each. Patients with TACI defects were more frequently male (p = 0.011) and displayed a benign lymphoproliferation (splenomegaly and lymph node enlargement, p = 0.047 and p = 0.002, respectively), had a history of tonsillectomy (p = 0.015) and adenoidectomy (p = 0.031) and more frequently exhibited autoimmune cytopenias (p = 0.046). Conclusions: Considering that accumulating evidence suggests several CVID patients have a complex rather than a monogenic inheritance, our data further support the notion that TACI mutations, particularly as monoallelic defects, should be primarily considered as susceptibility co-factors and/or modifiers of primary antibody deficiencies.
