Comparative StudyTREATMENT OF HUMERAL SHAFT FRACTURES: ANTEGRADE INTERLOCKING INTRAMEDULLARY NAILING WITH ADDITIONAL INTERLOCKING NEUTRALIZATION SCREWS THROUGH FRACTURE SITE.
The aim of this study was to compare union time between two different nail designs for the treatment of humeral shaft fracture, i.e. antegrade interlocking intramedullary nail with and without additional interlocking neutralization screws. The retrospective study included 51 patients treated with antegrade humeral intramedullary nailing between January 2015 and December 2017. The inclusion criteria of the study were proximal and middle third humeral shaft fractures. ⋯ There were no significant differences in union time between the groups (p>0.05). To our knowledge, this is the first report of antegrade interlocking humeral nailing with additional interlocking neutralization screws through fracture site. Hypothetical advantages of fracture gap reduction by additional interlocking neutralization screws to promote union were not confirmed by this first clinical trial.

Comparative StudyPERIODONTAL DISEASE IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE.
Periodontal disease is a chronic multifactorial disease the worldwide incidence of which is higher than the incidence of caries and represents one of the leading problems in dental medicine. It is manifested by the loss of the attachment apparatus of the tooth and leads to the loss of teeth. Numerous studies have shown the association of periodontal disease and various chronic systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. ⋯ First group included subjects with chronic renal disease stages III and IV, and the second group included patients with chronic renal disease stage V that were on hemodialysis. We compared periodontal status, as well as serum levels of different cytokines, interleukin 6, interleukin 17A and tumor necrosis factor α between the two groups. The results showed no significant between-group differences in periodontal status, but interleukin 6 levels were significantly higher in the hemodialysis group of patients and were also associated with a poorer periodontal status.

A DETAILED CBCT STUDY OF 'CORONOID FORAMINA' AND ACCESSORY FORAMINA OF THE MANDIBLE: A UNIQUE ANATOMIC VARIATION.
The aim of the study was to evaluate accessory foramina (AF) located on the medial aspect and to present a unique finding of 'coronoid foramina' (CF) along with AF on the mandible. The cone beam computed tomography images of the mandible in 979 patients were retrospectively evaluated for the presence of CF and AF. AF was found in 39 (3.98%) patients. ⋯ CF was confirmed in 20 (2.04%) patients. Mandibular AF is important for surgical procedures in the posterior region of the mandible and for mandibular nerve anesthesia. This study including CF will be useful for further studies due to the lack of literature on the issue.

Comparative StudyRISK FACTOR DISTRIBUTION AND LONG-TERM OUTCOMES IN YOUNG PATIENTS UNDERGOING PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTION IN MACEDONIA.
The aim was to assess coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factor distribution and long-term outcomes in young patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Macedonia. A total of 12,361 PCI patients (from March 2011 to December 2017) were included in the study. Group 1 included 309 young patients aged ≤40 as the main study group, comparing them to 12,052 older PCI patients (group 2) during the study period. ⋯ In conclusion, positive family history for CAD, obesity and smoking were the most common risk factors in the young PCI population. Young PCI patients usually had single vessel CAD with STEMI being more frequent as the cause for primary PCI. Long-term annual survival exceeded 99% in these patients with excellent prognosis after PCI.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CHRONIC URTICARIA/ANGIOEDEMA AND NUMMULAR ECZEMA RESOLUTION - WHICH FINDINGS ARE CRUCIAL?
When working with dermatology patients, the question sometimes arises which diagnostic tests and tools should be used for workup, particularly in cases of chronic urticaria (CU) and discoid nummular eczema, where the treatment of associated systemic diseases and infections may be crucial for patient outcome. The aim was to investigate retrospectively the influence of associated diseases on skin disease outcomes based on medical records of CU and nummular eczema patients in comparison to controls. ⋯ Meaningful regression of both dermatoses was recorded after treatment of associated diseases, with significant benefit from H. pylori treatment. This indicated that the diagnosis of associated infections (particularly H. pylori and urogenital infections), confirmed allergies, endocrine disorders (particularly of thyroid gland in CU patients) and serum malignancy markers could play a crucial role, as their treatment may improve disease outcomes.
