Depression among Medical Students of a Medical College in Nepal during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Depression is a common mental disorder. Medical school is a stressful environment. The outbreak of COVID-19 has added to the plight of medical students. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of depression among medical students of a medical college in Nepal during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ The prevalence of depression among medical students in Nepal during the pandemic was less than the findings of similar studies conducted in Nepal before the pandemic. Further studies are required to get more knowledge about the factors associated with mental health of medical students.

Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Mini-plate and Screws for Management of Unstable Metacarpal Fracture among Hand Injuries in a Tertiary Care Center: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Hand injuries metacarpal fractures are common and it accounts about 14 to 28%. Mini-plate fixation in unstable metacarpal fractures provides absolute stability and early mobilization of fingers to reduce complications. The purpose of this study is to find out the prevalence of open reduction and internal fixation with mini-plate and screws for management of unstable metacarpal fracture among hand injuries done in a tertiary care center. ⋯ Fixation of metacarpal fracture by mini-plate and screws was required in fewer patients. Mini-plate fixation provides better stability and early mobilization for unstable metacarpal fractures to achieve a good functional outcome.

Experience of a Final Year Medical Student: Pre- and Post-COVID-19 Era.
Medical education provides both knowledge and clinical skills to students. Clinical skills program including bedside teaching is considered an irreplaceable part of the undergraduate medical curriculum. COVID-19 pandemic has halted the delivery of effective clinical skills to medical students which has especially affected the final year students. ⋯ This public health crisis has also demonstrated the significance of resilience and adaptability in the medical education system and the need to inculcate these values in our generation of medical students. This will help the students to complete their transition from a 'student' to a 'doctor'. This article highlights the experience of a final year medical student in the pre- and post-COVID-19 period, problems faced by final year medical students during this crisis, and effective ways to cope up with them.

Non-neoplastic Lesions among Lateral Neck Mass Specimens in a Tertiary Care Center: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Lateral neck masses present clinically as neoplastic or non-neoplastic lesions of lymph nodes, salivary glands, and thyroid. Non-neoplastic lesions, if evaluated timely, may not transform into malignancy thus reducing clinical burden. A cytomorphological study using fine needle aspiration is a reliable method for the diagnosis of such masses. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of non-neoplastic lesions of lateral neck mass specimens received in the Department of Pathology in a tertiary care center. ⋯ The study showed that the prevalence of non-neoplastic lesions was similar to that of other national and international studies.

Thyroid Dysfunction in Patient with Abnormal Uterine Bleeding in a Tertiary Hospital of Eastern Nepal: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Thyroid hormone is known to affect reproductive biology. Abnormal uterine bleeding is one of the common presentations in gynaecology outpatient departments and thyroid dysfunction is known to affect its progression. This study aims to find the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in diagnosed cases of abnormal uterine bleeding in patients in a tertiary hospital of eastern Nepal. ⋯ Thyroid dysfunction was common among patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, with hypothyroidism being the most common type.
