Methodology to update the practice recommendations in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine's Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines, second edition.
To ensure that revisions to the second edition of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) guidelines are as valid and useful as possible. ⋯ The process and tools developed are consistent with international guideline assessment criteria, robust, and internally and externally valid.

Comparative StudyHow a health and safety management training program may improve the working environment in small- and medium-sized companies.
The objective of this controlled intervention study was to investigate the effects of a 2-year training program in health and safety (H&S) management for managers at small- and medium-sized companies. ⋯ H&S management training may positively affect measures at both garage and individual levels.

Consensus criteria for screening commercial drivers for obstructive sleep apnea: evidence of efficacy.
To validate the recently published consensus criteria for screening commercial drivers for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). ⋯ The proposed screening criteria have a high positive predictive value in this population. This study lends support for the requirement to screen for OSA in commercial drivers.

Burden of smoking and occupational exposure on etiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in workers of Southern Italy.
This study evaluates the burden of smoking and occupational exposure on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ Workers exposed to both risk factors have to be considered in COPD high-risk class. Smoking cessation programs could play an important role particularly in activities where effects of smoking have a positive interaction with occupational exposure.
