Impact of the combined use of benzodiazepines and opioids on workers' compensation claim cost.
Study the use patterns and claim cost impact of prescription opioids and benzodiazepines in workers' compensation. ⋯ The addition of benzodiazepines to an opioid treatment regimen significantly increases workers' compensation costs.

To examine whether positive mental health (PMH)-a positively focused well-being construct-moderates the job stress-distress relationship. ⋯ Positive mental health may help protect workers from the effect of workplace stress but only in a small proportion of the population. Therefore, to improve workplace mental health, workplaces need to both prevent stress and promote PMH.

Randomized Controlled TrialMindfulness goes to work: impact of an online workplace intervention.
The objective of this study was to determine whether a mindfulness program, created for the workplace, was both practical and efficacious in decreasing employee stress while enhancing resiliency and well-being. ⋯ This online mindfulness intervention seems to be both practical and effective in decreasing employee stress, while improving resiliency, vigor, and work engagement, thereby enhancing overall employee well-being.

Practice GuidelineACOEM practice guidelines: opioids and safety-sensitive work.
ACOEM has updated the treatment guidelines concerning opioids. This report highlights the safety-sensitive work recommendation that has been developed. ⋯ Quality evidence consistently demonstrates increased risk of vehicle crashes and is recommended as the surrogate for other safety-sensitive work tasks.

Musculoskeletal pain and depressive symptoms as predictors of trajectories in work ability among finnish firefighters at 13-year follow-up.
To identify work ability trajectories among Finnish firefighters during a 13-year follow-up. We examined whether baseline musculoskeletal pain and depressive symptoms (DPS) predicted membership of the trajectories. ⋯ When planning preventive actions and workplace health promotion among firefighters, even one site musculoskeletal pain and mild signs of depression should be taken into account. Prevention of adverse lifestyle habits is also essential.
