Tracheal rupture is a rare condition, and its most common cause is head and neck injury. Nontraumatic disruption of the anterolateral fibrocartilaginous trachea is an exceptional complication following thyroidectomy with few cases reported in literature. We report a case of upper tracheal necrosis arising 15 days after uneventful total thyroidectomy and resulted in pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema. ⋯ Considering the no-critical ill condition of the patient and the size of the tear we decide for a conservative treatment rather than surgical repair. Finally, our report underlights that the presence of subcutaneous emphysema following thyroidectomy should alert the possible existence of tracheal rupture. The favourable outcome of our patient shows that small tracheal perforation due to tracheal necrosis may be successfully treated with conservative treatment.

Observations and considerations on a case of Mondor's syndrome associated with gigantomastia.
The study of the Mondor's syndrome as a possible complication of gigantomastia. ⋯ Among the various causes recognized as predisposing to Mondor's syndrome, there has never been described gigantomastia so far. The observation and treatment of a patient in whom the gigantomastia certainly led to the onset of Mondor's disease, has led us to consider this as one of the possible complications of gigantomastia, providing an additional cue to the treatment of this condition even at an early stage.

Comparative Study
Management and outcome of 308 cases of liver trauma in Bologna Trauma Center in 10 years.
Management of Liver Trauma may vary widely from NOM +/- angioembolization to Damage Control Surgery. Multidisciplinary management is essential for achieving better outcomes. ⋯ NOM +/- angioembolization is safe and effective in any grade of liver injury provided hemodynamic stability. DCS is Gold Standard for hemodynamically unstable patients.

Acute appendicitis is among the most common emergency conditions in surgical practice and appendectomy is the most common treatment. Single-port (SP) laparoscopic transumbilical surgery has emerged in clinical practice. The aim of this study is to describe SP laparoscopic transumbilical surgery procedure performed in three patients undergoing appendectomy. ⋯ SP laparoscopic transumbilical appendectomy is a safe, effective and reliable technique leading potentially scarless abdominal surgery. Even though SP laparoscopic transumbilical surgery cannot substitute laparoscopic appendectomy for the moment, it is assumed that this procedure will become widespread by putting novel instruments into practice.
