The primary objective was to compare the rates of early allograft dysfunction (EAD) in patients undergoing elective adult live donor liver transplantation (ALDLT) with and without graft portal inflow modulation (GIM) for portal hyper-perfusion. The secondary objectives were to compare time to normalization of bilirubin and International Normalized Ratio (INR), day 14 ascitic output more than 1liter, small-for-size syndrome (SFSS), intensive care unit / high dependency unit and total hospital stay, and 90 day morbidity and mortality. ⋯ SAL significantly decreased PVP and PVF, but did not decrease rates of EAD in adult LDLT.

Radiation therapy is a clinically proven, localized preventive measure for heterotopic ossification (HO). Despite its efficacy, there is a lack of standardization of radiation prescription dosing and fractionation, and the mechanism of the impact of radiation in HO prevention remains unknown. ⋯ In-depth single-cell transcriptomic analyses, in combination with immunofluorescent staining, demonstrate decreased cellular numbers as well as aberrant endochondral differentiation and downregulation of associated upstream signaling pathways in irradiated mesenchymal progenitor cells. Our study provides the framework for future mechanistic and clinically relevant studies exploring radiation efficacy in preventing HO formation.

To compare rates of postoperative drainage and culture profiles in children with complicated appendicitis treated with the 2 most common antibiotic regimens with and without antipseudomonal activity [piperacillin-tazobactam (PT) and ceftriaxone with metronidazole (CM)]. ⋯ The use of antipseudomonal antibiotics is not associated with lower rates of postoperative drainage procedures or more favorable culture profiles in children with complicated appendicitis.

Assessment of Laparoscopic Indocyanine Green Tracer-Guided Lymphadenectomy After Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Locally Advanced Gastric Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To assess the effectiveness of indocyanine green (ICG)-guided lymph node (LN) dissection during laparoscopic radical gastrectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC). ⋯ ICG can effectively improve the quality of lymphadenectomy in patients with LAGC who underwent laparoscopic radical gastrectomy after NAC.
