Examine feasibility and construct validity of Pictorial Fit-Frail scale (PFFS) for the first time in older surgical patients. ⋯ PFFS had good feasibility and construct validity among older surgical patients when compared to previously validated frailty measurements.

The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and survival benefits of portal vein and/or superior mesenteric vein (PV/SMV) resection with jejunal vein resection (JVR) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). ⋯ PV/SMV resection with JVR can be safely performed and may provide satisfactory overall survival with the pre-and postoperative adjuvant therapy.

To report more than 5-year outcomes of ultrasound-guided thermal ablation (TA) for patients with solitary low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) in a large multicenter cohort. ⋯ This multicenter study revealed that TA was an effective and safe treatment for patients with solitary low-risk PTMC, which could be offered as a treatment option for the management for low-risk PTMC.

To evaluate the association of perioperative ctDNA dynamics on outcomes after hepatectomy for CLM. ⋯ Perioperative ctDNA dynamics are associated with survival, identify patients with high recurrence risk, and may be used to guide treatment decisions and surveillance after hepatectomy for patients with CLM.

Bariatric surgery can cause type 2 diabetes (diabetes) remission for individuals with comorbid obesity, yet utilization is <1%. Surgery eligibility is currently limited to body mass index (BMI) ≥35 kg/m 2 , though the American Diabetes Association recommends expansion to BMI ≥30 kg/m 2 . ⋯ Diabetes remission following bariatric surgery improves healthy life expectancy and provides net social benefit despite high procedural costs. Per capita benefits appear greater among currently eligible individuals. Therefore, policies that increase utilization may produce larger societal value than expanding eligibility criteria alone.
