The HELLP syndrome in the antiphospholipid syndrome: retrospective study of 16 cases in 15 women.
To study the characteristics of the haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome in the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and its influence on the subsequent pregnancies. ⋯ APS may be revealed by HELLP. In APS, HELLP is associated with pre-eclampsia/eclampsia in most cases and seems to occur earlier than in the general population. Heparin plus aspirin may prevent obstetric complications in the subsequent pregnancies.

Relative responsiveness of condition specific and generic health status measures in juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
To compare the relative responsiveness of condition specific measures with that of a generic health status instrument for outcome assessment of intra-articular corticosteroid (IAC) injection in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). ⋯ The physician's global assessment of the disease activity proved the most responsive outcome measure in our patients with JIA. The relative evaluative properties of the generic health status instrument and the CHAQ should be further investigated.

To examine the epidemiology of gout and gout treatment in the United Kingdom using a large national practice based population. ⋯ Although gout is common in the UK, particularly among older men, the incidence of the disease seems to have remained stable during the 1990s.
