Role of NLR, PLR, ELR and CLR in Differentiating COVID-19 Patients with and without Pneumonia.
Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR), eosinophil/lymphocyte ratio (ELR), and C-reactive protein (CRP)/lymphocyte ratio (CLR) are well-established inflammatory indices. This study aimed to examine whether NLR, PLR, MLR, ELR and CLR could differentiate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with pneumonia from those of without. ⋯ Our findings showed that NLR, PLR, ELR and CLR indices can be used in differentiating COVID-19 patients with or without pneumonia. Among them, the CLR index was the best predictor of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients.

The missing link between inflammation and arterial stiffness among different metabolic phenotypes.
Although metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) has begun to be seen as a being benign phenomenon, this conclusion is still not completely certain. Obesity is also associated with low-grade systemic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. Thus, we aimed to assess Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV) as a marker of arterial stiffness and CV risk among individuals with MHO, metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), and metabolically healthy normal-weight (MHN). ⋯ PWV, which is an important non-invasive marker of cardiovascular risk, is higher in MHO than in MHN as in MUO individuals. Moreover, PWV was positively correlated with the serum hs-CRP level as a conventional marker for systemic inflammation. Thus, MHO can be seen as a cardiometabolic risk marker.

Assessment of the number of admissions for road traffic collisions and severity of injury in daylight saving time and permanent daylight saving time periods.
Permanent daylight saving time has been implemented in Turkey since 2016. The present study determines the characteristics of road traffic collisions in the short-term, trauma severity, and whether permanent daylight saving time has an impact on these parameters. ⋯ In this study, we examined the short-term effects of daylight saving time on road traffic collisions, and demonstrated that it had no impact on the number or time of admission, trauma severity and patient outcomes. More comprehensive studies covering longer periods can be performed across the country.

An association between immune status and chest CT scores in COVID-19 patients.
The characteristic features of the immune responses of COVID-19 patients and how they reflect lung involvement have not been clearly elucidated. ⋯ The cell numbers of peripheral lymphocyte subsets and the serum IgA level were negatively correlated with the chest CT scores in COVID-19 patients. These parameters tended to independently predict severe lung involvement in such patients.

Factors Associated with Prompt Recovery among Hospitalized Patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019.
Patients who survived hospitalisation for COVID-19 experienced varying durations of illness but the factors associated with prompt recovery are unknown. This study identifies factors differentiating hospitalised patients who recovered promptly versus survived a prolonged course of illness because of COVID-19. ⋯ Our study provides relevant data that could help clinicians triage competing resources in health systems that are challenged by the ebb and flow of COVID-19 cases by identifying clinical features of COVID-19 patients who may require less intensive management including avoidance of unnecessary antibacterial therapy.
