Effects of COVID-19 pandemic in a breast unit: is it possible to avoid delays in surgical treatment?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused fear all around the world. With people avoiding hospitals, there has been a significant decrease in outpatient clinics. In this study, we aimed to compare and explore the first peak of the pandemic period by studying its effects on patient applications, new diagnoses and treatment approaches in a non-infected hospital. ⋯ This study shows that non-infected hospitals can be useful in avoiding delays in the surgical treatment of cancer patients.

Observational StudyEffects of different personalized sound therapies in tinnitus patients with hearing loss of various extents.
Limited by difficulties in choosing the appropriate sound, sound therapies could only effectively restrain the development of tinnitus in some patients. Thus, individualised sound therapies are of urgent needs. ⋯ This study found that both personalised sound therapies were effective in tinnitus treatment while 7-octave pure tone adjusted from tinnitus frequencies were more promising in decreasing tinnitus handicap and tinnitus volume.

Diagnostic Value of Platelet/lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) for Predicting Sentinel Axillary Lymph Node Positivity in Early Stage Breast Cancer Compared to Ultrasonography.
In breast cancer, the most important prognostic factor is axillary lymph node metastasis. However, there is no method which can diagnose axillary lymph node metastasis preoperatively with high sensitivity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and sentinel lymph node metastasis in early-stage breast cancer. ⋯ The rate of success in diagnosing metastatic SLN in early-stage breast cancer is higher in PLR when compared with USG and other imaging methods.

Interleukin-33 and its receptor soluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2 in the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common pregnancy-related disease that increases the risk of metabolic disorders for the pregnancies and their offspring. GDM could be effectively prevented by early diagnosis and timely treatment. ⋯ IL-33/sST2 might serve as a novel potential biomarker for early diagnosis of GDM.

Relationships between Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and cardiovascular risk in a naïve population of southern Italy.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a worldwide increasing syndrome, which, by promoting endothelial dysfunction, contributes to extend the cardiovascular risk. We evaluated the cardiovascular risk in a group of OSA patients. ⋯ Further studies are required to investigate the pivotal role of inflammation resulting from obesity, and underlying increased cardiovascular risk in OSA patients.
