Treatment of High-Energy Intra-Articular Fractures of Tibia with Ilizarov External Fixator in Adults: A Tertiary Center Experience.
To evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of the Ilizarov fixator in the proximal and distal fractures of the tibia. ⋯ The postoperative clinical and radiological outcome indicated that primary Ilizarov external fixator is a reliable minimal invasive surgery and definitive fixation method for high-energy intra-articular proximal and distal tibial fractures with compromised soft-tissue. It also offers early stabilisation and painless joint motion without a high rate of complications.

Clinicopathological characteristics of patients with esophageal squamous papilloma in Turkey and comparison with the literature data: the largest case series ever reported from Turkey.
Oesophageal squamous papilloma (ESP) is a rare tumoural lesion of the oesophagus considered to have a benign course. Due to the fact that they are rare lesions, there are not many publications with large case series on ESPs in the literature. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical, endoscopic and histopathological characteristics of ESPs. ⋯ In this study with the largest case series ever reported from Turkey, it was determined that ESPs were seen in younger ages in Turkey and were also smaller in size, which is not in agreement with the literature data. Besides, this study, in which ESPs were most frequently detected in the middle oesophagus, supports the view that GERD may not be the main factor in ESP aetiology.

Changes of serum IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, MCP-1, TNF-α, IP-10 and IL-4 in COVID-19 patients.
Studies have shown that some cytokines in COVID-19 patients were elevated. This study aims to assess whether IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, MCP-1, TNF-α, IP-10 and IL-4 serve as potential diagnostic biomarkers of COVID-19. ⋯ The detection of IL-10, IL-1 β, IL-6, MCP-1, TNF-α and IL-4 would assist the clinical study of COVID-19, and IP-10 may be the cytokine of early elevation in COVID-19 patients.

Association of plant-based diet index with inflammatory markers and sleep quality in overweight and obese female adults: A cross-sectional study.
Inflammation and sleep disturbances increase the risk of multiple diseases, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and dementia. Since diet plays a significant role in inflammatory responses and sleep quality, this study aimed to investigate the association of a plant-based diet index (PDI) with sleep quality and inflammatory markers in overweight and obese women. ⋯ Our findings indicated a significant association between adherence to a plant-based diet with inflammation and sleep quality in obese and overweight females. WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT THIS TOPIC?: Sleep is an essential part of life, and sleep quality has a significant impact on individual well-being and performance. There is a bidirectional relationship between disturbed sleep and elevated levels of inflammatory markers. Diet plays a major part in sleep quality and its related health consequences. Plant-based diets are associated with lower risk of chronic diseases such as coronary artery disease (CAD), type 2 diabetes, obesity and reduced level of inflammation. WHAT DOES THIS ARTICLE ADD?: Adherence to a healthful plant-based diet is associated with lower level of hs-CRP, while adherence to an unhealthful plant-based diet is associated with higher concentrations of hs-CRP. Adherence to an unhealthful plant-based diet is associated with lower sleep quality.
