Awareness of Dysphagia-Related Complications and Risks and the Importance of Early Intervention in Patients with Parkinson's Disease: A Qualitative Study.
To investigate the awareness of dysphagia-related complications and risks and the importance of early intervention in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). ⋯ Patients with PD have a low awareness of dysphagia, do not follow any preventative measures, and have difficulty in recognizing the disease symptoms; hence, there is a vital need for early intervention. Medical staff need to create awareness among patients and their families, provide health education through multiple channels, popularize the knowledge of PD complications such as dysphagia, improve patient compliance with respect to medication, regular consultation, and medical treatment, guide the transformation of negative emotions in patients to positive emotions, and help patients with PD to actively prevent dysphagia and other complications and improve their quality of life.

Prevalence of Nonadherence to Medications among Geriatric Patients in Al-Madinah Al-Munawara City's Hospitals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Medication adherence is a major component in the treatment of chronic patients, especially the older adults. It acts as an essential part of a successful therapeutic outcome, increasing treatment benefits, and decreasing hospital admissions, health care utilization, and cost. Limited research regarding medication adherence has been conducted nationwide; however, data among the older adults is sparse due to the lack of research on this topic. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of medication nonadherence among older adults' Saudi patients with chronic diseases living in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah city. ⋯ Medication adherence is crucial especially among older adults to improve clinical outcomes. The current results highlight the prevalence of medication adherence among the older adult population. This result shows the gender-based differences in the factors associated with medication nonadherence among the older adult population.

Leptin Receptor Gln223Arg Polymorphism of Human Spermatozoa Associated with Male Infertility in a Chinese Population.
Leptin (LEP) is believed to play a crucial role in male reproduction, while the molecular mechanisms through which LEP affects the male reproductive system are unclear. LEP acts by binding to a leptin receptor (LEPR) which mediates its physiological action, but there are only limited studies on the function of LEPR in human sperm. ⋯ This study reveals a possible association between the Gln223Arg polymorphism of the LEPR gene in spermatozoa affecting spermatozoal membrane integrity and having a direct role in sperm motility.

Associated Risk Factors and Diagnostic Value of Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy for Protracted Bacterial Bronchitis in Children.
Untreated protracted bacterial bronchitis (PBB), a chronic wet cough prevalent in children, may lead to chronic suppurative lung disease. However, clinical diagnostic criteria are currently nonspecific; thus, PBB may be misdiagnosed. Thus, we assessed the diagnostic value of fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) and the risk factors associated with PBB. ⋯ Dermatophagoides, milk protein, and eczema were associated with an increased risk of PBB. Sputum distribution and tracheal wall changes observed through FOB may distinguish PBB and assist in its diagnosis.

Quality of Life and Psychometric Characteristics of Syrian Refugee Physicians Who Migrated to Turkey: A Cross-Sectional Study.
The concept of migration comes with various problems, affecting the quality of life and psychological state of immigrants. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life and depression and anxiety states of physicians who immigrated to Turkey after the civil war that started in Syria in 2011. ⋯ The overall quality of life of most refugee physicians in Turkey was high, and the BDI and BAI scores were also below the threshold values. Further qualitative studies that allow in-depth analyses may reveal underlying factors for this situation.
