[New bibliometric indicators for the scientific literature: an evolving panorama].
Bibliometrics is a science which evaluates the impact of the scientific work of a journal or of an author, using mathematical and statistical tools. Impact Factor (IF) is the first bibliometric parameter created, and after it many others have been progressively conceived in order to go beyond its limits. Currently bibliometric indexes are used for academic purposes, among them to evaluate the eligibility of a researcher to compete for the National Scientific Qualification, in order to access to competitive exams to become professor. ⋯ Each analized index shows advantages but also criticalities. Therefore the combined use of more than one indexes, citational and not, should be preferred, in order to correctly evaluate the work of reserchers and to finally improve the quality and the development of scientific research.

Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) is a common nosocomial infection in intensive care units. International literature showed how the use of professional oral hygiene protocols provide an essential support in VAP prevention. ⋯ Systematic reviews were evaluated with AMSTAR checklist, INSA tool was used to analyze narrative reviews. The findings of this study suggest that the use of antimicrobials combined with tooth brushing can actively contribute to reducing the incidence of VAP.

Prevalence of pain in the departments of surgery and oncohematology of a paediatric hospital that has joined the project "Towards pain free hospital".
Among hospitalized adults and children pain is undertreated. This study wants to assess the effectiveness of pain therapy in two departments of a large children's hospital. ⋯ The prevalence of pain in the two departments is high. The main cause is that knowledge is not still well translated into clinical practice.

Case ReportsA rare localization of neurothekeomas of radial nerve: A case report.
Neurothekeoma is a very rare benign connective tissue tumour that presumably derived from nerve sheath cells. We described the case of a rare localization of neurothekeoma in the upper limb with a strange presentation. A 49 years-old woman presented to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Division of the Umberto I Hospital referring an intensive pain associated to paresthesias at the left forearm lasting from six months. ⋯ A MRI that showed a mass, mildly hypointense on T1- weighted sequences and hyperintense on T2-weighted images, with nonhomogeneous enhancement post-contrast, attributable to expansionary pathology of the radial nerve. A biopsy was done and the lesion was described as a benign tumor of nerve sheath, i.e., a Neurothekeoma of the radial nerve. Patients was surgically treated, the tumor has been removed and she referred the resolution of symptomatology.

Case ReportsAdductor accessorius - an unusual supernumerary adductor muscle of thigh.
The knowledge of variant anatomy of medial compartment of thigh is extremely important in surgical procedures requiring obturator nerve block. The nerve block is also recommended for providing additional analgesia following major knee surgeries and for relieving painful adductor muscle spasm. The interfascial injection technique is commonly followed in ultrasound guided obturator nerve block. ⋯ We hereby report a case of such an anomalous supernumerary adductor muscle present between adductor brevis and proximal part of adductor magnus, in an adult Indian male cadaver, recorded during routine dissection in Department of Anatomy, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital. The muscle was innervated by the posterior division of obturator nerve. The morphology, embryological basis and clinical aspects are also discussed.
