To determine the characteristics of vulvar pain as to location and provocation by touch and pressure in order to confirm that current International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease definitions of vulvar vestibulitis (provoked vestibulodynia) and vulvodynia (generalized vulvodynia) effectively describe and differentiate these 2 subsets. ⋯ This study suggests that the criteria of location and only provoked vs. only unprovoked pain alone do not describe 2 distinct subsets of vulvodynia; rather, there is overlap in provoked vs. unprovoked pain and location.

Nighttime call in house vs. out of house: a comparison of obstetric procedure rates.
To evaluate the effect of in-house vs. out-of-house nighttime call coverage on obstetric practice. ⋯ The nighttime call status of physicians, whether in house or out of house, did not affect cesarean delivery, operative vaginal delivery, overall (total) operative delivery or episiotomy rates.

Bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation vs. tourniquet use for hemostasis in cesarean myomectomy. A comparison.
To comparatively investigate the effects of using bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation and tourniquet use on intraoperative and postoperative blood loss during myomectomy in cesarean cases. ⋯ Despite the fact that bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation and tourniquet use had similar outcomes with regard to intraoperative blood loss in cesarean myomectomy cases, the efficacy of ligation on blood loss in the postoperative period continues owing to its permanence. The tourniquet method is not effective in the postoperative period since the tourniquet is removed at the end of the operation. Therefore, bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation may be preferable in cesarean myomectomy cases.

To evaluate prospectively whether generalized vulvar dysesthesia and vestibulodynia possess unique characteristics that support the theory of differing etiologies. ⋯ The characteristics of women with generalized vulvar dysesthesia are similar to those with localized pain, supporting the theory that the 2 disorders may exhibit 2 presentations on a continuum of severity seen in vulvar dysesthesia rather than 2 distinct entities.

Uterine contraction frequency before and after successful tocolytic therapy for preterm uterine contractions.
To examine the association between prelabor uterine contraction frequency (UCF) and the success of tocolytic therapy for preterm labor (PTL). ⋯ The mean UCF immediately preceding PTL does not predict tocolytic success or failure.
