Clinical Trial
A pilot study of the effects of behavioral weight loss treatment on fibromyalgia symptoms.
Previous studies have found a relation between weight loss and pain severity in various chronic pain populations. However, there has been little research examining the relation between body mass index (BMI) and fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the relationship between BMI and FMS symptoms and to determine if FMS symptoms would decrease following weight loss. ⋯ Findings suggest that behavioral weight loss treatment could be included in the treatment for overweight/obese women with FMS.

Spanish version of the Delirium Rating Scale-Revised-98: reliability and validity.
The aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of the Spanish translation of the Delirium Rating Scale-Revised-98 (DRS-R-98). ⋯ The Spanish translation of the DRS-R-98 has high interrater reliability for both total and severity scale scores, high internal consistency, and very good concurrent validity in relation to other cognitive measures and therefore can be administered to delirious patients.

To clarify the relationship of global alexithymia and its facets with pain, assessed prospectively using experience sampling methods (ESMs), in temporomandibular disorder (TMD). ⋯ Findings highlight the complex relationships of alexithymia and its facets to TMD pain. Research should examine alexithymia facets separately and distinguish between methods that compare groups on alexithymia (e.g., pain patients versus controls) and those that correlate alexithymia with pain severity within a group.

The aims of this study are to characterize the levels of emotional distress and quality of life among caregivers of lung transplant candidates and to examine the relation of coping styles and perceived caregiver burden to caregivers' self-reported emotional distress. ⋯ Although most caregivers of transplant patients do not report significant impairment in functioning, assessing caregivers' coping strategies and caregiving burden may identify those caregivers who experience increased emotional distress.

The study examines the association between mental adjustment, coping strategies [emotion (EF) and problem focused (PF)], and psychological distress. ⋯ ESRD patients in the adjustment phase (patients diagnosed at least 1 year previously) tend to struggle to lead as normal a life as possible despite the dependency caused by the illness.
