Assessment of a Situation Awareness Quality Improvement Intervention to Reduce Cardiac Arrests in the PICU.
To use improved situation awareness to decrease cardiopulmonary resuscitation events by 25% over 18 months and demonstrate process and outcome sustainability. ⋯ Interprofessional teams using shared situation awareness may reduce cardiopulmonary resuscitation events and, thereby, improve outcomes.

To present consensus statements and supporting literature for plasma and platelet product variables and related laboratory testing for transfusions in general critically ill children from the Transfusion and Anemia EXpertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding. ⋯ The Transfusion and Anemia EXpertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding program provides some guidance and expert consensus for the laboratory and blood product attributes used for decision-making for plasma and platelet transfusions in critically ill pediatric patients.

Standardized Training for Physicians Practicing Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care.
In the vast majority of Children's Hospitals, the critically ill patient can be found in one of three locations: the PICU, the neonatal ICU, and the cardiac ICU. Training, certification, and maintenance of certification for neonatology and critical care medicine are over seen by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and American Board of Pediatrics. There is no standardization of training or oversight of certification and maintenance of certification for pediatric cardiac critical care. ⋯ In the current era of increasing specialized care in pediatric cardiac critical care, standardized training for pediatric cardiac critical care is paramount to optimizing outcomes.

Plasma and Platelet Transfusions Strategies in Neonates and Children Undergoing Cardiac Surgery With Cardiopulmonary Bypass or Neonates and Children Supported by Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: From the Transfusion and Anemia EXpertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding.
To present the recommendations and consensus statements with supporting literature for plasma and platelet transfusions in critically ill neonates and children undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass or supported by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation from the Transfusion and Anemia EXpertise Initiative-Control/Avoidance of Bleeding. ⋯ Whereas viscoelastic testing and transfusion algorithms may be considered, in general, evidence informing indications for plasma and platelet transfusions in neonatal and pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass or those requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support is lacking.

Transport Medical Control Education for Pediatric Critical Care Fellows: A National Needs Assessment Study.
Characterize transport medical control education in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship. ⋯ Transport medical control responsibilities are common for Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellows, but training is inconsistent, assessment is not standardized, and supervision may be lacking. Fellow performance in transport medical control may help inform assessment in multiple domains of competencies. Further study is needed to identify effective methods for transport medical control education.
