The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between expression of VGLL4 and YAP protein in gastric carcinoma and adjacent normal tissues and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters and its significance in prognosis of gastric cancer. ⋯ VGLL4 protein decreased in gastric cancer tissue and was negatively correlated with tumor progression and malignancy degree, suggesting that it is a potential antitumor protein; YAP protein increased in gastric cancer and is a proto-oncogene.

Efficacy of lidocaine 5% medicated plaster (VERSATIS®) in patients with localized neuropathic pain poorly responsive to pharmacological therapy.
Localized neuropathic pain (LNP) is a subgroup of neuropathic pain characterized by consistent and circumscribed area(s) of maximum pain, associated with negative or positive sensory signs and/or spontaneous symptoms characteristic of NP. Lidocaine medicated plasters (LMP) have shown to be effective in pain relief in selective LNP syndromes. ⋯ LMP treatment is safe and worth consideration also as add-on therapy in order to reduce analgesic drug consumption in selected LNP.

Curcumin is a powerful anti-oxidant that can be used to treat inflammation and pain in chronic conditions such as osteoarthrosis (OA). Phytoproflex® is characterized by an innovative delivery system that improves bioavailability of curcuminoids and could be useful in the management of OA. ⋯ This preliminary registry study indicates that Phytoproflex® can be safely used as an effective, supplementary management in most OA patients.

SNHG and UCA1 as prognostic molecular biomarkers in hepatocellular carcinoma: recent research and meta-analysis.
The latest studies have shown that the long non-coding RNAs seemed to be qualified markers of cancer. So we sought to assess the prognostic value of SNHG and UCA1 as predictive markers of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ Our meta-analysis demonstrated that SNHG and UCA1 may serve as prognostic biomarkers for HCC prognosis.

Small nucleolar RNA 47 promotes tumorigenesis by regulating EMT markers in hepatocellular carcinoma.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is third leading cause of cancer-related death globally. Evidence suggest that small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) have emerged as key regulators of tumor development and progression in HCC. However, the biological significance of snoRNAs in HCC remains unclear. ⋯ SnoRA47 may serve as a valuable biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for HCC.
