Ovarian cancer is the commonest cause of death from a gynaecological malignancy. Diagnosis of the disease at an early stage is associated with significantly improved survival rate. This suggests that screening may impact on disease mortality. This review addresses the current methods of screening, the ongoing trials and future of screening for ovarian cancer.

Psoriasis is a common inflammatory dermatosis which affects 1.2 million people in the UK. Psoriasis is a chronic relapsing, remitting disease that varies in severity from relatively mild localized disease, to patients who have all their skin involved. With adequate treatment the signs and symptoms of psoriasis can be relieved. Newer therapeutic options are offering improvements in care for sufferers.

Polymyalgia rheumatica and giant cell arteritis are the commonest inflammatory rheumatic conditions seen in the elderly. This review focuses on the diagnostic processes and complications of disease and treatment; and the safe management of these conditions with careful consideration of balance between benefits and long-term risks of glucocorticosteroid therapy.
