The actual relative dose intensity (RDI) of the attenuated R-CCOP regimen (rituximab, cytoxan, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin [PLD], vincristine, and prednisone) has not been fully investigated in Chinese geriatric patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). In particular, the optimum dose for PLD remains unclear. ⋯ The optimal dose of PLD for elderly patients with DLBCL in China remains to be determined. Evaluating the tolerance and identifying risk categories are critical for clinical decision-making in this population.

Specific immunotherapy is the only effective etiological treatment for allergic rhinitis, but subcutaneous immunotherapy has a slow onset and poor compliance. Predicting the clinical efficacy of subcutaneous immunotherapy in advance can reduce unnecessary medical costs and resource waste. This study aimed to identify metabolites that could predict the efficacy of subcutaneous immunotherapy on seasonal allergic rhinitis by serum metabolomics. ⋯ Some metabolites, such as hypotaurine, taurine, and l-alanine, have the potential to become predictive biomarkers for effective subcutaneous immunotherapy.

COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis is associated with increased in-hospital mortality and prolonged SARS-CoV-2 viral shedding.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA) is common in critically ill patients with COVID-19 and is associated with worse outcomes. However, reports on CAPA and its impact on treatment outcomes in Asian populations are limited. ⋯ Lower serum fibrinogen levels was independently associated with CAPA among the ICU-admitted patients with COVID-19. The patients with CAPA had a higher in-hospital mortality rate and a longer SARS-CoV-2 viral shedding time than those without CAPA.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) can only promote 55-80% false lumen (FL) thrombosis when only the proximal primary tear is covered during the repair of type B aortic dissection (TBAD). This study evaluated the effectiveness and clinical outcome of tailored exclusion of the primary entry tear with TEVAR and distal fenestrations with ancillary devices in patients with subacute or chronic Crawford type III and IV aortic dissection aneurysm. ⋯ Tailored exclusion of visceral and iliac distal fenestrations with proximal primary tear coverage can promote FL thrombosis and aortic remodeling in the visceral aortic segment in patients with Crawford type III or IV aortic dissection aneurysm.

Lung transplantation is a therapeutic option for patients with end-stage lung disease. However, the increase in organ demand has surpassed the number of donors, with many patients unable to outlive the long waiting period. This study aimed to assess mortality and its risk factors in patients on the waiting list for lung transplantation in a single medical centre. ⋯ This is the first Taiwanese study to describe the mortality factors in patients waiting for lung transplantation. The main factors influencing the survival of these patients were lower BMI, NYHA class IV, and diseases which cause end-stage lung diseases (infection and pulmonary fibrosis).
