Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is an essential outcome parameter in geriatric research; however, the available evidence is mixed regarding the factors associated with HRQoL among people with dementia. We aimed to identify factors that contribute to HRQoL among people with dementia in residential long-term care (LTC) institutions. ⋯ ADL, dementia severity, cognitive function, and depressive symptoms influenced the HRQoL of people with dementia in residential LTC institutions. Longitudinal studies should be conducted to better understand how HRQoL changes over time among people with disabilities.

Locoregional therapy and multi-kinase inhibitor agent have been the backbone of treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. However, the effect of combination or sequential use of locoregional therapy on HCC patients receiving multi-kinase inhibitor remain uncertain. Therefore, we aim to explore whether the subsequent locoregional therapy provides better survival in HCC patients under lenvatinib treatment. ⋯ ALBI grade, treatment duration of lenvatinib, and achieving objective image response within twelve weeks were the independent predictive factors for tumor progression. Furthermore, longer overall survival was observed in tumor progression patients with subsequent locoregional therapy and with better liver preserved function.

Predictive modeling aids in identifying patients at high risk of adverse events. Using routinely collected data, we report a competing risk prediction model for kidney failure. ⋯ Using real-world data, our competing risk model can accurately predict progression to kidney failure over 2 years in patients with advanced CKD.

Nephrite is an asbestos mineral composed of tremolite and actinolite. Fengtian is a community where nephrite was mined between 1970 and 1980 and asbestos was mined between 1960 and 1985. The lung cancer risk to the surrounding community is unknown. ⋯ Nephrite mining increases the risk of lung cancer in nearby communities.
