To assess the safety of fasting in diabetic and non-diabetic patients with stable CKD during Ramadan. ⋯ Our study shows no worsening of renal functions in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients with stable CKD who intended to fast.

To investigate the value of the combined test of seven blood coagulation indexes, lipids and platelet agglutination on the evaluation of the hypercoagulable state of blood in parturient women. ⋯ The combined test of seven blood coagulation indexes, lipids and platelet agglutination results in excellent performance in predicting and judging the presence or absence of the hypercoagulable state of blood in parturient women, with the combination of APTT+TT+DD+TG+ADP+AA being the preferred test.

To investigate the relevant risk factors of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) in patients with Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and their correlations with the central macular thickness (CMT). ⋯ For patients with T2DM, blood pressure, course of diabetes, FBG, 2hPBG and urinary albumin are independent risk factors for PDR, and increased systolic blood pressure, course of diabetes, HbA1c level and urinary albumin level will increase CMT. Combining the above indexes to predict the occurrence of PDR has a synergistic effect, and the increase in systolic blood pressure, course of diabetes, HbA1c level and urinary albumin level will increase the CMT of the patients.

To explore the risk factors of chronic pain after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and to establish and verify a prediction model. ⋯ Gender, postoperative 24-hours NRS and postoperative three months HSS score are independent risk factors for chronic pain after TKA. The nomogram prediction model based on these factors is effective and can provide auxiliary reference for patients with chronic pain after TKA.

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) has severe implications for maternal morbidity and mortality; thus, boosting pregnant women's awareness and knowledge of this medical condition is crucial for improving the mother's and foetus's health. This study assessed the awareness and knowledge of PIH and its risk factors among pregnant women in Mdantsane, South Africa. ⋯ The prevalence of PIH was high. Age, history of PIH, previous pregnancy, and marital status were predictors of PIH knowledge/awareness and risk factors for PIH. Context-specific health education programmes during prenatal visits are crucial to improving pregnant women's knowledge of PIH.
