Sigmoid volvulus (SV) recurs in about one quarter of the patients, whereas multiplex (≥3) attacks are quite rare and attacks with five or more times are extremely rare. The aim of this study was to evaluate multiplex SV attacks in our series and worldwide data. ⋯ Although multiplex (≥3) attacks are uncommon in SV, when it goes up, elective surgery must be considered in selected cases to avoid repetitive attacks and related high mortality.

To study whether children with peptic ulcer would have abnormalities in cellular and humoral immune functions, and whether Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection would affect the immune function of children with peptic ulcer. ⋯ Hp infection can induce the elevation of T lymphocyte subsets. The development of peptic ulcer has an intimate association with the disorder of cellular and humoral immune functions.

This study aimed to determine the epidemiology, clinical features, and complications of extensively drug-resistant Salmonella typhi (XDR S. typhi) infection in adults. ⋯ Diarrhea was the most common associated clinical feature in XDR typhoid fever. Most of the patients received meropenem alone or in combination with azithromycin with a comparable time to defervescence. The majority of the patients recovered uneventfully and there was no mortality among the study participants.

To explore the evaluation value of intracranial magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) combined with carotid ultrasound (CU) in patients with cerebral infarction (CI). ⋯ Intracranial MRA combined with CU can clarify the vascular stenosis and hemodynamic characteristics of patients with CI, and the combined approach closely correlates with the characteristics of CI, which can be used for disease assessment.

Mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) is rare in the clinic, accounting for approximately 2%-5% of acute leukemia cases. ⋯ Survival analysis suggests that the survival time of ALL and MPN patients receiving TKI treatment is better than that of patients not receiving this treatment. Dasatinib or nilotinib, especially the former, is more effective than imatinib for MPN.
