Obesity is an epidemic of the 21st century with its rates doubling in both developed and developing countries. It raises concerns for both maternal and fetal well-being and needs altered care throughout pregnancy and in postnatal period. Raised BMI prior to conception is associated with adverse feto-maternal outcomes. Limited data is available about its association with adverse maternofetal outcome in this region of the world. Our objective was to find out association of high pre-pregnancy BMI with adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes. ⋯ Maternal pre-conception BMI of ≥ 25 leads to poor maternal and perinatal outcomes.

To investigate the levels of white blood cell count (WBC), procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in patients with acute community-acquired lower respiratory tract infections and the value of their combined detection in predicting the occurrence of complications. ⋯ The combined detection of WBC, PCT, CRP and ESR has substantial predictive value in predicting the occurrence of complications in patients with community-acquired lower respiratory tract infections.

To investigate the efficacy and safety of endotracheal intubation combined with deep analgesia and sedation in the prevention of preoperative dissection rupture in acute Standford type A aortic dissection. ⋯ Preoperative endotracheal intubation combined with deep analgesia and sedation in patients with acute Stanford Type-A aortic dissection can produce good analgesic and sedative effects, effectively reduce the incidence of preoperative dissection rupture, and create conditions for subsequent surgical treatment of patients.

To investigate the correlation of maternal PDX1 methylation, NGN3 and Pax6 expression levels with neonatal blood sugars and birth weight in pregnant women with GDM and non GDM. ⋯ Changes in maternal PDX1 methylation, NGN3 and Pax6 expression levels may lead to abnormal glucose metabolism in neonates, which has a close bearing on neonatal hypoglycemia and blood glucose levels caused by GDM.

Antenatal visits play a very important role to diagnose and manage pregnancy related health issues. This study was an attempt to identify the reasons that increase the risk of postpartum acute kidney Injury with special focus on antenatal care. ⋯ Patients who did not have antenatal care were at an increased risk of developing PPAKI. Financial issues and lack of awareness were the most common risk factors for compromised antenatal care.
