I-PreFer Study: A Discrete Choice Experiment to Explore Patient, Caregiver and Pulmonologist Preferences of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Pharmacological Treatment Options.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, and ultimately fatal lung disease that, while rare, has seen incidence rise over time. There is no cure for IPF other than a lung transplant, though two antifibrotic (AF) drugs do exist to slow disease progression. While these drugs are efficacious, they are both associated with differing profiles of adverse events. This study aimed to elicit patient, caregiver and pulmonologist preferences on the treatment profiles of AFs via a discrete choice experiment (DCE). ⋯ The outcomes from this study suggest that while patients and caregivers had similar preferences for characteristics of IPF treatments, pulmonologists did not share those same preferences. Patients and caregivers preferred safety, while pulmonologists preferred efficacy. These differences should be considered by clinicians to better involve the patient in treatment decision-making for IPF.

Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on Glycemic, Weight, Blood Pressure Control and Medication Adherence in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes.
Medication adherence profoundly affects blood glucose management in patients with type 2 diabetes. Measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic have affected disease management and medication adherence, owing to limited access to healthcare facilities. This study aimed to examine the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on adherence to glucose-lowering and lipid-lowering therapies (statins), and glycemic, weight, and systolic blood pressure control measures. ⋯ HbA1c levels were significantly reduced after the index follow-up (Mean difference: -0.43%, p < 0.001), while there was a 2.5 mmHg (p = 0.03) significant increase in SBP post-index follow-up. No significant changes in weight were observed during the post-index follow-up period. In this study, we observed better medication adherence and glycemic control among patients during the lockdown, but not for weight and systolic blood pressure control.

Patients' Use of a Standardized Medication List - A Mixed Methods Study.
A medication list (ML) is a document listing the patient's entire medication, instructions for use, and indications. In Germany, a national standard was established in 2016 by law. However, data on patients' use of this standardized ML are scarce. We investigated (i) patients' practical use of the ML, (ii) patients' understanding of the ML, (iii) completeness and correctness of the current ML version, and (iv) reasons why patients did not adhere to their ML. ⋯ Completeness and correctness of the current ML version was poor with handwritten modifications being frequent. Additionally, most of the patients did not adhere to their ML. This indicates that measures that lead to correct and up-to-date ML and improvements in patient counseling about their medication should be developed and implemented into routine practice.

Determinants of Medication Non-Adherence Among the Elderly with Co-Existing Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Rural Areas of Udupi District in Karnataka, India.
Medication adherence is a crucial component in the management of elderly with co-morbid chronic conditions. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the determinants of medication non-adherence among rural elderly with co-morbid chronic conditions of hypertension (HTN) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in India. ⋯ Medication adherence could be improved among rural elderly with co-morbid conditions by identifying and addressing the determinants at the earliest. Further, it is vital to identify the suitable intervention program to address these avoidable problems.
