Ingrown nails come down to a conflict between the nail plate and the periungual tissue, causing pain, morbidity and impairment. The feet are mainly affected. ⋯ Surgical management has two approaches: the techniques focused on the periungual skin and those on the nail plate. Among the latter, partial nail avulsion followed by matrix phenolization, known as "Boll's technique", is still highly regarded.

Patients' general practitioners (GPs) could be relevant consultants for collegial decisions of withholding or withdrawing treatment (WWT) defined by the Leonetti law. We therefore studied their implication by intensivists in end-of-life decisions and collected their feelings. Their wishes for the coming law revision were also investigated. ⋯ Despite an undeniable interest, GPs are rarely involved in collegial processes of WWT in ICUs, partially related to an insufficient knowledge of the law by the healthcare providers. At the dawn of end-of-life law's revision, their share could however improve our practices in this field.

Though the carrying out of involuntary psychiatric care (IPC) mainly follows from a subjective appraisal of the patient's state, some specific clinical criteria have been proposed on regards to the underlying disorder. French national recommendations are synthesized hereby, and completed by a literature review. In psychotic disorders, the level of insight and the impact of delusion(s) are the essential criteria that should recommend to carry out IPC. ⋯ Personality disorders are severity factors of emergency psychiatric states which can result in IPC. They are not criteria for IPC by themselves. For patients with dementia, mostly behavioural disturbances can require IPC.

Psoriasis is an inherited chronic hyper proliferative autoimmune disease. Nail involvement is common and is found in 61% of cases of cutaneous psoriasis, with lifetime incidence of 90%; 80 to 90% in patients with psoriatic arthritis. Classical manifestations on the nail apparatus are correlated with the origin site of the disease. ⋯ Inflammation of the mid or distal matrix causes leuconychia due to nail incorporation of parakeratotic cells. Nail bed and hyponychium can show onycholysis, oil drops (salmon patches) subungual hyperkeratosis and at the distal nail bed splinter hemorrhages. Induction or severe exacerbation of psoriasis may be due to drugs, such as β-blockers, lithium, antimalarial agents, anti-TNF and interferon.
