Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Remifentanil versus fentanyl in combination with midazolam for retrobulbar block in cataract surgery.
To compare the effects of fentanyl or remifentanil in combination with midazolam on hemodynamic parameters, pain, and satisfaction profile in cataract surgery. ⋯ Remifentanil and fentanyl are both efficient and comparable opioid adjuncts to midazolam providing low injection pain and high satisfaction level with hemodynamic stability in cataract surgery under retrobulbar injection.

To evaluate the efficacy of procalcitonin PCT to identify critically ill patients with sepsis in comparison with leukocyte count, body temperature, C-reactive protein CRP, erythrocyte sedimentation rate ESR, and interleukin-6 IL-6. ⋯ Assessing PCT levels is a more reliable way to indicate sepsis in newly admitted patients with systemic inflammations compared with conventional inflammatory parameters and IL-6.

Comparison of the effectiveness of pretreatment by fentanyl and remifentanil on rocuronium induced injection pain.
To compare the efficacy of fentanyl and remifentanil as prodrugs in the prevention of rocuronium injection pain by using a control group. ⋯ This study shows that a bolus dose of 0.02 mg of remifentanil is a more effective prodrug administration compared to the application of saline, however, remifentanil and fentanyl have no superiority over one another and the administration of fentanyl is equally effective as saline prodrug administration.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Placebo controlled comparison of the opioid sparing effect of meloxicam and diclofenac after abdominal hysterectomy.
To compare the opioid sparing effect of meloxicam, diclofenac, and placebo after abdominal hysterectomy. ⋯ Our study demonstrates a significant opioid sparing effect after abdominal hysterectomy with diclofenac, but not with meloxicam.
