Epidemiology of Clostridioides difficile infection at a tertiary care facility in Saudi Arabia: Results of prospective surveillance.
To determine the incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and the frequency of known risk factors. ⋯ In our hospital, HO-CDI incidence rate is lower than that in high-income countries. National multicenter surveillance is needed to evaluate the actual burden of CDI in Saudi Arabia.

Systemic cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) toxicity following a total hip replacement is a rare complication that may sometimes lead to fatal consequences. We report a case of a 64-year-old woman, who presented with Co-Cr toxicity after revision of fractured ceramic components with metal-on-polyethylene. Systemic toxicity occurred a year after surgery and was expressed brutally with mostly central neurological symptoms. ⋯ Prosthetic revision with a metal bearing surface after a history of fracture of the ceramic bearing component should be avoided. Orthopedic surgeons and the different medical actors should be aware of this rare but serious complication to allow earlier management. Above all, multidisciplinary management is primordial to allow correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

To assess the prevalence of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) usage and identify barriers among major hospitals and medical centers in Saudi Arabia. We also aim to compare these findings with data from nearly 2 decades ago. ⋯ Although CPET utilization has increased over 2 decades, this still falls below the desired benchmark. This highlights the need for collaborative efforts among policymakers, and healthcare institutions to address barriers and improve CPET integration into clinical practice.

To investigate the role of cell cycle protein-dependent kinase regulatory subunit 1B (CKS1B) in driving the aggressive and rapid proliferation observed in pancreatic cancer. ⋯ The CKS1B may serve as a novel potential prognostic factor in pancreatic cancer and is involved in the abnormal proliferation biology phenotype by mediating cell cycle signaling pathways.

Acute Side effects and health care requirements in breast cancer patients treated with radiotherapy.
To identify the unmet needs of breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy METHODS: A pretest-posttest single-group experimental design, a variation of the experimental research approach, was employed in this investigation. The study's sample consisted of 28 breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy at the radiation oncology clinic of a training and research hospital between November 2021 and April 2022. The sample size was determined using G*Power 3.1 software. Data were collected using an Information Form, Radiotherapy Acute Side Effects Follow-up Form, and the Supportive Care Needs Scale (SCNS-SF34). ⋯ Breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy may not express every side effect they experience to healthcare professionals. This study will contribute to the literature in terms of raising awareness by emphasizing the importance of addressing the comprehensive needs of breast cancer patients throughout their radiotherapy treatment journey.
