Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialPostoperative effects of fentanyl, ketorolac, and piroxicam as analgesics for outpatient laparoscopic procedures.
To compare postoperative analgesia and side effects of intramuscular ketorolac, intravenous fentanyl, and oral piroxicam on healthy women undergoing laparoscopic surgery. ⋯ Intramuscular ketorolac was associated with shorter recovery room stays while providing analgesia equal to intravenous fentanyl or the oral nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug piroxicam.

High-velocity penetrating wounds of the gravid uterus: review of 16 years of civil war.
To evaluate the value of selective laparotomy in pregnant women with penetrating abdominal injuries. ⋯ Selective laparotomy may be considered in pregnant women with anterior penetrating abdominal trauma, as the likelihood of intra-abdominal injuries may be predicted based on the location of the penetrating wound.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialMeconium-stained amniotic fluid and respiratory complications: impact of selective tracheal suction.
To determine prospectively the incidence of several pulmonary diagnoses among infants born through clear or meconium-stained amniotic fluid (AF) managed by a selective approach to tracheal intubation. ⋯ We conclude that a selective approach to tracheal intubation and suction of infants with meconium-stained AF was not associated with increased pulmonary morbidity or mortality. Postnatal management of neonates at greatest risk of meconium aspiration syndrome does not necessarily prevent adverse pulmonary outcome.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialTreatment of menstruation-associated migraine headache with subcutaneous sumatriptan.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of sumatriptan, a 5-HT1 receptor agonist, in patients with menstruation-associated migraine. ⋯ Sumatriptan was as effective and well tolerated for menstruation-associated migraine as it was for nonmenstrual migraine.

Antitachyphylactic effects of progesterone and oxytocin on term human myometrial contractile activity in vitro.
To determine whether progesterone causes any changes in the action of oxytocin on the contractile activity of term human myometrium in vitro. ⋯ Progesterone stimulated the frequency of contractions and tonus of strips from the lower uterine segment of term human myometrium. A lasting increase in the frequency of contractions was observed with superfusion of progesterone plus oxytocin, suggesting that progesterone counteracted the reaction of tachyphylaxis to oxytocin.
