ReviewManagement of metastatic bone disease of the pelvis: current concepts.
Metastatic disease of the pelvis is frequently associated with severe pain and impaired ambulatory function. Depending on the patient's characteristics, primary tumor, and metastatic pelvic disease, the treatment choice may be varied. This study aims to report on the current management options of metastatic pelvic disease. ⋯ Different treatment modalities exist to manage metastatic pelvic bone disease. Decision-making for the most appropriate treatment should be made with a multidisciplinary approach based on a case-by-case basis.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyClinical outcomes and end-of-life treatment in 596 patients with isolated traumatic brain injury: a retrospective comparison of two Dutch level-I trauma centers.
With an increasingly older population and rise in incidence of traumatic brain injury (TBI), end-of-life decisions have become frequent. This study investigated the rate of withdrawal of life sustaining treatment (WLST) and compared treatment outcomes in patients with isolated TBI in two Dutch level-I trauma centers. ⋯ Level III, retrospective cohort study.

ReviewWhich surgical technique may yield the best results in large, infected, segmental non-unions of the tibial shaft? A scoping review.
Infected nonunion of the tibia with a large segmental bone defect is a complex and challenging condition for the patient and surgeon. This scoping review was conducted to identify existing evidence and knowledge gaps regarding this clinical scenario. Secondly, the objective of this study was to search for a valid recommendation on the optimal treatment. ⋯ Bone transport was found to be the most widely studied technique in the literature. Depending on the surgeon's expertise, vascularized fibular grafts may be held as a favourable alternative. This review indicates that further high-quality research on large bone defects ( ≥ 5 cm) in patients with infected tibial nonunions is necessary to gain more insight into the potentially beneficial results of vascularized fibular grafts and the Masquelet technique.

ReviewElbow coverage by the descending superficial radial artery flap: a clinical series and literature review.
Soft tissue coverage of the posterior aspect of the elbow requires thin and flexible flaps to adapt to movements without constraining them. The authors report a clinical series of reconstruction by the descending superficial radial artery (DSRA) flap, a proximal forearm perforator flap which use is rarely reported in the literature. ⋯ The DSRA flap with an adipofascial pedicle is a simple, reliable, and reproducible method for reconstruction of small to moderate-sized defect on the posterior aspect of the elbow. Its use is easier for defects on the posterolateral side, but it can reach the medial olecranon.
