Perioperative delirium increases the morbidity and mortality in elderly patients. The present retrospective study was carried out to evaluate whether desflurane or sevoflurane has influence on the incidence of perioperative delirium. ⋯ Desflurane anesthesia is same as sevoflurane regarding perioperative delirium in elderly patients. Shorter hospitalization in group D was achieved for 10 days compared with those in group S, due to the lower incidence of delirium on POD 3 and 5 in group D.

Comparative Study
[Comparison of Postoperative Analgesic Effects between 0.25% Levobupivacaine and 0.5% Levobupivacaine Local Instillation in Inguinal Hernia Repair].
We compared retrospectively postoperative analgesia of two concentrations of levobupivacaine by local spraying in radical repair of inguinal hernia. ⋯ In inguinal hernia repair, it is possible that local spraying of 0.25% levobupivacaine exerts the same effect as 0.5% levobupivacaine.

We report anesthetic management of patients undergoing single-lumen tracheal tube ventilation with artificial pneumothorax in thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy in prone position. No adverse effect against respiratory and circulatory management was found during esophagectomy. Single-lumen tracheal tube ventilation with artificial pneumothorax potentially is a feasible method for thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy in prone position.
