TyG index as a predictor of spontaneous coronary artery dissection in young women.
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare but potentially life-threatening pathology and cases are especially seen in women under 50 years of age and with relatively fewer cardiovascular risk factors. Although risk factors facilitating the development of SCAD have been defined in the literature, modifiable risk factors remain unclear. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between the triglyceride glucose index (TyG) and the development of SCAD in the population of young women. ⋯ As a result, our study shows that the development of these non-atherosclerotic conditions can be predicted by simple biochemical tests in young women with low atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors.

Flexible ureteroscopy under local anesthesia for stone management: initial exploration and two-year experience.
Flexible ureteroscopy (f-URS) is a minimally invasive surgical technique used for treating urinary tract stones. While general anesthesia (GA) is the standard method used, it comes with risks. Local anesthesia (LA) is a safer and more cost-effective alternative to GA, and its use in f-URS could potentially reduce patients' risks and increase accessibility to treatment. This study aims to investigate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of using LA for f-URS in treating stones, as an initial experience in the diagnosis related group (DRG) era of China. ⋯ The study revealed that f-URS administered under LA was a well-tolerated, efficient, safe, and economical procedure. In the DRG era, this new anesthetic option for f-URS provides urologists with a more cost-effective alternative.

Association between serum vitamin C and chronic kidney disease among adults in NHANES, 2017-2018.
The current study evaluated the relationship between serum vitamin C and chronic kidney disease. ⋯ There were a negative correlation between serum vitamin C and CKD, low levels of vitamin C were associated with a higher risk of CKD, and these associations were only found in men, but not in women.

Prevalence of hospitalized women at high-risk for developing lung cancer.
Lung cancer screening with low-dose computer tomography (CT) has been shown to reduce the lung cancer mortality in high-risk individuals by 20%. Despite the proven mortality benefit, the utilization of lung cancer screening among high-risk populations remains low. ⋯ The study's findings suggest that almost half of the hospitalized women who report current or past smoking are at high-risk for developing lung cancer.

ReviewEarly diagnosis of chronic kidney disease in patients with diabetes in France: multidisciplinary expert opinion, prevention value and practical recommendations.
Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), accounting for approximately 50% of patients starting dialysis. However, the management of these patients at the stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains poor, with fragmented care pathways among healthcare professionals (HCPs). Diagnosis of CKD and most of its complications is based on laboratory evidence. ⋯ Pre-analytical conditions are essential to exclude factitious hyperkalemia. The current concept is to correct hyperkalemia using pharmacological approaches, resins or diuretics to be able to maintain RAAS blockers at the recommended dose and discontinue them at last resort. This paper also suggests expert recommendations to optimize the healthcare pathway and the roles and interactions of the HCPs involved in managing CKD in patients with diabetes.
