Results of using the open method of treatment of postoperative peritonitis in 26 patients are presented. Relaparotomy technique is described when "open abdomen" was used as a typical operation irrespective of causes of progressing peritonitis. ⋯ In relation with the character of postoperative peritonitis the abdominal cavity was closed by primary-delayed or secondary sutures on the 5-12th day. Lethality after using the open method of treatment of postoperative peritonitis was 30.7%.

Comparative Study[Fractures of upper extremities and their treatment in polytrauma].
Under study were results of treatment of 150 patients with multiple and associated injuries of the upper extremities. Shock took place in 44% of the patients. Early fixation of the fractures of the upper extremities allowed a successful treatment of other injuries as well. The primary invalidization made up 12% mainly because of the amputation of the upper extremities.

Exact indications for urgent, early and late thoracotomy are given on the basis of a great clinical experience of the authors. Specific features of the operation, principles of the management of postoperative patients are described. The general postoperative lethality from chest injuries of the patients was 9.5%.
