Intervention at the border of viability: perspective over a decade.
To investigate prenatal management and outcome of infants born at the border of viability during 2 periods, 2001 to 2003 (late epoch) and 1993 to 1995 (early epoch). ⋯ More interventions were provided for infants born at 22 to 24 weeks' gestation in the late epoch than the early epoch. Despite these changes in management, there has been no reduction in mortality in more than a decade.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAntipyretic agents for preventing recurrences of febrile seizures: randomized controlled trial.
To evaluate the efficacy of different antipyretic agents and their highest recommended doses for preventing febrile seizures. ⋯ Antipyretic agents are ineffective for the prevention of recurrences of febrile seizures and for the lowering of body temperature in patients with a febrile episode that leads to a recurrent febrile seizure.

Neonatologist training to guide family decision making for critically ill infants.
To assess neonatology fellow training in guiding family decision making for high-risk newborns and in several critical communication skills for physicians in these scenarios. ⋯ Graduating neonatology fellows are highly trained in the technical skills necessary to care for critically ill and dying neonates but are inadequately trained in the communication skills that families identify as critically important when facing end-of-life decisions.

Motives for nonmedical use of prescription opioids among high school seniors in the United States: self-treatment and beyond.
To assess motives for nonmedical use of prescription opioids among US high school seniors and examine associations between motives for nonmedical use and other substance use behaviors. ⋯ The findings indicate motives should be considered when working with adolescents who report nonmedical use of prescription opioids. Future efforts are needed to identify adolescents who may need appropriate pain management and those at increased risk for prescription opioid abuse.
